Yes, this is just something he can build off of. In this case, it wouldn't lead to a more permanent job as the Norther Farm Union is only hiring those for a one-time response to damage due to weather. He can definitely gain experience learning how to repair things during this job, though, which might help him acquire a more permanent job elsewhere!
