Taking up fishing, when he believes that is what his father gave up his dream of swimming for to take care of himself and his mom, is a turmoil of things, but mostly unease and grief and some fear. Especially because his father died at sea fishing as well. However, Haru's trying to comfort and reassure him and Rin does have some hope that maybe he could learn something about his father from the experience (but it's a far more fragile hope than the ones he usually experiences, tempered by his fears). He's also really appreciative of Haru's efforts here to hear him out.
