We prefer if characters are taken as close to canon material as possible. We recognize that headcanon about their past and even current lives is already going to be a thing, so we'd like to limit that in terms of their future. But depending on the circumstances, a couple of months post-canon is acceptable! Just as long as whatever action happening in-between end of canon and the post-canon point is reasonable.
