So I'm curious about religion in Verens. Not in a "give me a list of deity names" sense, but what sort of systems and related architecture are in place? Do we have a ye olde pagan fantasy system where there are several different gods who represent different things and have their own temples and acolytes? Or are there equivalents of the religions we have in reality? I remember there being a cult a while back -- are those widespread, or a rarity in the face of larger, more standard religions? Are you following the Victorian England thing where a lot of people were really fascinated with occultism and amused themselves playing with ouija boards? What should I know, if anything?
I ask because Kevin is still refusing to settle down in a house because of finicky psychological reasons I won't bore you with, and while this could certainly change, I'm making up some options for him for winter just in case. One thing that occurred to me was the possibility of a tiny old abandoned church, which perhaps has a locked iron fence around it and is mostly boarded up. I was thinking that maybe superstition keeps most of the other vagrants out of it, which of course wouldn't deter Kevin because he figures if there was a god who wanted him dead he'd have been struck by lightning by now. Or maybe it's got a curse. Or maybe stupid kids dare each other to go into it at midnight and Kevin will find himself trolling some brats now and again, who knows.
Mostly I'm just trying to come up with a roof to go over his head that no one else would want. Something like this would appeal to him because he wouldn't have to deal much with other bums and criminals infringing on his space, and if he accidentally freaks out and destroys the building, nobody will miss it. Since it isn't in the residential area, it'd also make him harder to find, which would be a huge point in its favor. Religion in PandoraHeartsland isn't clearly laid out at all but it smells vaguely of Catholicism, so there'd be something romantically satisfying in it, too, even if he was unfamiliar with the deity or the dogma attached to the place.
