Since it doesn't really change or alter much, we decided that it would be fine! In fact, just to cover more bases, you could say that while in canon the flame doesn't change, upon entering Empatheias the flame now has these characteristics. That way you don't risk going against canon and can just consider it something that the world did.

Of course that's just a suggestion. Either way, you can definitely have the flame reflect his emotions!
