quick question about powers for this particular character from persona q!

throughout the game, rei had healing powers (both passive and active skills) that she could use but it was revealed late in the game that she originally got these powers from another character (zen). when they were together, he unknowingly gave her these abilities and when they were separated, he took them back. so my question is that if rei is in the game without a zen, would she not have these powers or would it just be easier to say that she has them, regardless if zen is there or not?
