That's perfectly fine. It also would have been possible for you to have the pet even from the time it could speak as whether a pet-type character must be apped separately really depends more on whether they 1) act as an independent sentient being AND 2) has a high chance of there being a player to play them. Usually it's the second that makes the snag.

Your willingness to drop the pet if someone does express interest to app them gives you extra bonus points. So it's all good—bring in the pet!
