2. It would depend on the illness. If it's one that came with the character, then it would still remain (otherwise there would be a very real risk of characters deliberately offing themselves to try and cure it and that is not something we want to encourage). However, the illness would also "reset" to be back where it was originally. As cruel as this might be, it does allow the character more time and chances to try and figure out a cure. You are also correct about any physical wounds being healed and coming back feeling weakened.
3. As for "severely weakened," it would be along the lines of being bed-ridden for several days and needing a lot of nourishment to replenish the body. Some physical therapy may be needed so that the individual can properly walk and use their limbs again. There will be no issues speaking or thinking.
