The failure of his murder plan with Ren only added to his negative feelings, along with the isolation from being away from the First Order and living on a planet for once in his life. The change has made his mood sour and it's not helped by the fact that Ren has been hurt because of their failed plan and that the Resistance people are doing fine.
However, he's also becoming slightly more caring towards Ren over the recent months. He has trust and appreciation for his co-commander and some of that is slowly extending to random individuals he encounters. Of course, he still plans on using them for his own benefit, but he doesn't have as many negative feelings towards others. He's still unhappy with his situation, but he's trying to do what he can to get out of it.
