OC Applications are here
IMPORTANT! We are officially in endgame until August 31, 2020. Applications are on a rolling basis. There is a small "block" period from the 1st through the 4th of every month to allow a bulk of apps to be submitted, and then applications can be submitted at any time during the month. Notices will be sent out all at once after the first "block" period, and then between 24 hours to the end of the weekend depending on how many and our schedule. Applications are guaranteed to be processed during the weekends.
Before applying, please be sure to read the following:
We have compiled sample applications from our players to show what the mod team and the application moderators are looking for in terms of writing quality and depth. We hope you find these samples useful!
⌈ PLAYER SECTION ⌉
Player:
Contact: Journal/Plurk/AIM — anything to help identify since someone might share your name handle.
Age: You must be at least 13 years old to apply.
Current Characters: If a new player, just put "N/A"
⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉
Character:
Age:
Canon:
Canon Point:
Background: We do not need a play by play of their life. You can of course provide one, but it's not necessary. A summary of their role in the canon and important events involving their character will suffice. Wiki links are allowed.
Personality: Tell us everything you can about how the character works. What are their quirks, reasons for thinking, habits, and flaws—basically we want to know not only how they act, but also why they act that way. You are free to use canon as examples, but be sure to explain why you are referencing the event.
Abilities: If there are any particular abilities the character has supernatural or otherwise, list them here. Referencing to a wiki list is acceptable. However, if there are any particular abilities that need to be weakened or removed, note them here.
Alignment: Please refer to the Alignment entry to choose which alignment your character would most likely fall under. Include a brief (a couple of sentences max) just to help explain why you think your choice is the best fit.
Other: Anything else you'd like to mention.
⌈ SAMPLE SECTION ⌉
We have two sample requirements.
General Sample: We should see examples of the character's dialogue as well as some introspection or additional narrative to further show how you intend to write the character. This is the most important part of the sample and where most of the weight will be.
Emotion Sample: This is our "game setting" requirement. Essentially we want to ensure that you have a basic grasp of the game's premise, especially with the use of emotions. It can be a small scene, even incidental to the main sample. A reminder that apathetic characters will also create effects, such as loss of color, surface distortion, holes forming. This section doesn't have to be lengthy, but the effect must be clear for us to see.
The emotion sample can be part of the general character sample. If so, please link directly or directly quote that portion so that it's easier for us to quickly find it.
The samples can be "written" in three different ways and you can choose which one will work best for you:
Format wise, you can use either [ brackets ] OR narrative prose. We do require that the writing at least be coherent, have proper sentence structure, and is mostly grammatically correct (we realize that writing styles can be loose/creative in [ bracket ] form so we're giving a bit more leeway). One last suggestion we have is try to have the character interacting with the environment and try thinking of the sample less of a narrative piece but more like a post or thread prompt you might make in the game. That will help the sample show not only how you will write the character, but also how you will play them in practice.
Questions: If you have any questions, ask them here.

Before applying, please be sure to read the following:
- Read the Rules and the Game Information.
- Double check the Reserves and Taken Characters lists (A-M | N-Z) to make sure the character you're applying for is not on the list. Also check the comments in case the entry has yet to be updated, as well as any pending applications.
- RETURNING PLAYERS! You only need to submit any old application. Does not matter how long ago, as long as it was accepted and you have good standing (ie, not banned), it will be valid.
- Feel free to use the most recent test drive both for practice as well as to use for samples. IMPORTANT! If you submit threads as samples, you must submit the application with that character journal. This is the only way we can ensure that the samples are from you and not someone else.
- Linked samples must have been made within the past year.
- You may apply for up to two characters per month.
- Application challenges are allowed. Reserves will have priority, but it's not definitive. We will choose the better application regardless.
- Do not plagiarize. If we find that the information provided was directly taken by either another player or source material such a wiki, the application will be rejected immediately. If we find this after processing the application, we will revoke the application and have you removed from the game with potential ban.
- Reusing content from your own applications from other games is allowed. However, the application must follow our format, and we ask any original written samples to conform to our game. That is, we don't want to read samples that are set specifically for another game's premise. Note: this does not apply to threads linked from other games used as samples.
- If you are rejected, you cannot reapply for the same character for two weeks. However, you can apply for a different character in that timeframe.
- Those accepted must fill out all of the required entries within a week to be considered part of the game. Otherwise, we will consider it a revocation of the application.
- Fill out the form and comment to this entry! You can either paste the application directly to the entry or link it from your own journal/musebox.

The samples can be "written" in three different ways and you can choose which one will work best for you:
- Test Drive. You can utilize our test drive to cover both requirements of the sample. So long as there is enough character portrayal and a scene with an emotional reaction, be it within the prompt or done during the thread, then it can be used for both.
- Link out + Written. You can link to threads/entries from other games, memes, or museboxes to show character portrayal, and then write an additional short scene for the emotion portion of the sample.
- Original Sample. You can write a complete sample that shows both character portrayal and a scene involving emotion use. This can be one sample or two separate samples. If you opt to write an original sample, you are welcome to use any prompts from any of our Test Drives, Intro Logs, Task Board, and even past events. You are also free to change things up and are not restricted to any of these prompts. They are just here to help offer ideas.

Revision
The personality section is currently too limited in scope, and we would like to see it fleshed out further. For instance, you mention that Jekyll is flawed on his own, but not necessarily how, aside from his self-loathing. We would also like to see more on how he interacts with others in a general sense, how he reacts to seeing what he views as evil, as well what Hyde thinks about other people and how he plans to work towards his goal of being "himself."
Please submit your revisions as its own comment in reply to this one. You have one week to submit the revisions, otherwise we will consider it a revocation of your application. If you have any questions or concerns, ask away!

Personality: At first glance, Jekyll seems like a model British gentleman. He is courteous, kind, and intelligent. But he can also be idealistic, self-destructive, and stubborn.
In London, he's a gracious host to both Chaldea's Master and multiple Servants, and the closest he comes to complaining is a gentle protest whenever Mordred plops down on his favorite sofa. He never stops her from actually sitting there, however, and even kindly prepares chilled cider for her in anticipation of her return. He provides them a safe base of operations away from the Demonic Fog outside, but even when they go out to fight, he isn't idle. He's set up an information network via radio, working with other survivors to gather information and analyze the problem at hand in search of a solution.
He also isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, if necessary. When the group journeys to the Mage's Association in search of answers, Jekyll leaves the safety of his apartment behind to accompany them. Despite Mordred's concern for his well-being, since he's only human, he insists on coming along.
However, even if that may seem brave or heroic, it also plays into his faults. In the fight of good against evil, Jekyll is willing to give everything he has to see justice done. Good will prevail, no matter the cost.
He puts this belief into practice later, when the party is being overrun by enemies in the underground corridors of the Mage's Association, Jekyll reveals the "ace up his sleeve": an elixir, a "special" one he made. Before anyone can stop him, he injects the elixir into his body. This, of course, triggers his transformation into Hyde, and he goes wild, taking out as enemies as he can. With the aid of Mordred and Mash, they defeat the rest of the enemy units, and Jekyll returns to his proper self.
He mentions that there was a chance he would not return after using the elixir—and yet he used it anyway, without hesitation. To help them get the information they needed to stop the evil forces causing the Singularity and restore London to its proper form, Jekyll was willing to sacrifice himself if necessary.
The root of this, of course, comes back to the main driving force of his character: his strong sense of justice. Rather than accept that there is both good and evil within people, his idealism and stubbornness drove him to create the special elixir in the first place, which brought about his own ruin.
Once a Servant, Jekyll shows markedly more remorse and regret about Hyde's existence. The reason behind this is that unlike the London Singularity Jekyll above, the Servant version of Jekyll is one who lived out the end of his novel's tale: committing murder as Hyde, then committing suicide himself. However, the Servant Jekyll absorbed the memories of the London Singularity Jekyll into himself, and they are ultimately the same person.
As a Servant, Jekyll depends on his other half as a last resort, well aware of the hateful irony that he's not very useful in a fight—meaning that Hyde is often necessary to protect his Master. Despite this, he continues to struggle against Hyde, refusing to give up his dreams of good prevailing over evil.
He desperately wants to be a real "hero", rather than a tainted Heroic Spirit, and overcome his own inner evil. This comes up explicitly in Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Sky Silver, in both his wish for the Holy Grail and his promise with Tatsumi, but it's also alluded to during his Valentines/White Day scene in FGO. Jekyll gives a homemade gift of onigiri (which he's never made before) to his Master, grateful to be given a chance to do better, even if he feels he is broken and unstable.
When not struggling to suppress Hyde, however, Jekyll is a soft-spoken, polite, and earnest man. He values honesty and virtue, and he has a keen interest in academic matters. He is perfectly at home with a library, open-minded with new technology (in London, he had access to a refrigerator before they were commonly available and seemed perfectly comfortable with its use, as well as skillfully used radios to his advantage), and puzzles or strange phenomena are quick to catch his interest.
In contrast, Edward Hyde is the foil of Henry Jekyll, his "evil" side. They are the same person, so they share the same memories, although they may interpret them differently. If Jekyll finds Hyde's behavior reprehensible, Hyde is just as quick to decry Jekyll as a "goody-goody" and mock the ideals he holds so dear.
Hyde is ultimately an anti-hero, a hedonist without morals. In both the Interlude "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and the Garden of Sinners event, it's shown that he has no qualms about pretending to be Jekyll in the name of tricking unsuspecting victims—whether to further his own aims or lure them into striking range. Likewise, he shows no remorse about killing, be the target be monster or human. The only person he seems to hold any allegiance to is his Master, due to their contract, although that won't stop him from causing trouble.
He's surprisingly childish and excitable compared to the mature and responsible Jekyll. Hyde laughs often, gleefully and wholeheartedly, throwing himself into battle as if it were all a fun game. Unlike Jekyll, who is formal and polite, Hyde speaks in a very casual and vulgar manner.
Even when Hyde's not fighting, he's very energetic and animated, especially if things are going his way. That isn't to say he isn't capable of being serious on occasion, but not in the same capacity as Jekyll. Boredom is a good way to dampen his mood, as is someone being absolutely no fun. For instance, in FGO's Garden of Sinners event, Shiki is entirely unimpressed by his antics and bluntly tells him she prefers Jekyll, catching him off-guard. He stops grinning entirely, staring at her in dead-eyed disbelief while demanding why she would ever prefer that moron when he's the one who's good with a knife.
The virtuous, the righteous, upstanding heroes who can do no wrong—he hates people like that. Hyde gets along much better with those also tainted by darkness, those with few or twisted morals, those who live on their own terms. As the manifestation of "a person's evil desires" himself, Hyde especially admires Angra Mainyu, the anti-Heroic Spirit who embodies "All the World's Evil".
Ultimately, more than anything Hyde wants to be "himself". This is a reoccurring theme both in the Interlude "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and the Garden of Sinners event. Both times, he asserts that he is the real personality, Henry Jekyll's true essence. He resents the original Jekyll side of their identity for what he perceives as holding him back. In the Interlude, he's convinced that physically destroying Jekyll in some fashion is how he'll finally gain complete control. However, he's denied the opportunity to kill the human Henry Jekyll, and he can't kill the Jekyll inside him without also killing himself.
His goal hasn't changed, but for now he's been stymied. Likewise, Jekyll wishes for the reverse—to fully suppress Hyde and rid himself of his inner darkness. Their existence is a dual one, caught between the tug and pull of good and evil.
Unfortunately, it's not a clear-cut matter. Although there are definitely times at which one or the other is in control, many times the line between them is unclear. The stronger he grows as a Servant, the blurrier that line becomes. This is seen in his MyRoom dialogue in FGO, where he sometimes transitions between his Jekyll and Hyde voices even in the middle of conversation.
In his previous incarnation as Berserker, there was a distinct divide between them. Jekyll had full control of when he would become Hyde, only transforming whenever he activated his Noble Phantasm, "Dangerous Game: The Secret Game of Sin". In this incarnation, however, something is wrong. Any Servant or Master capable of reading his Saint Graph may notice that it's unnaturally warped. The definite cause of the distortion is unknown, but from his obsession with his former master, it's likely the trauma of his previous Master's death that brought Jekyll to his current instability. For the most part, however, Jekyll remains the dominant personality.
