[ task board & businesses ]
In addition to the standard business jobs, there are also independent jobs, or "tasks," that can be done by anyone. These jobs are posted in a large central bulletin board located in a building called The Task Center in Merchant's Square. It's overseen by a group who collects the fees, posts the listings, monitors who takes what, and gives the appropriate payment. These are more "mercenary" like in the sense that anyone can post one and anyone can take it. They range from asking for a helping hand to run an errand to gathering a hard to get item to exterminating a dangerous monster roaming too close to farms. Some jobs may even be related to the plot or an event.
Jobs are an excellent way to not only get money, but also to create emotion drops because most jobs require more than one person. Even if the job itself could be done solo, it is still possible to bring in a friend to help. Unless the job specifies, there is nothing preventing the job taker from asking for aid. We do encourage that those taking the more "quest" like jobs to bring in a partner.
In addition, characters are free to create their own businesses (and subsequently their own tasks), and we double the task board as a way to keep track of them.
Feel free to play around with the jobs. Some can even become mini plot events with the right people, and players can create jobs in relation or as a reaction to a posted job. You don't have to feel like you need to restrict yourself to the small blurb in the description, either, so have fun with it!
❖ How It Works
» General Tasks. These are "repeatable" and can be done by multiple parties at various times. They do not require a partner although it is encouraged. Many of these can be considered as "soloable" and can be handwaved.
» Special Tasks. These are on a first come first serve basis and are considered more difficult than the General ones. It is safe to assume that any jobs requiring some aspect of fighting will be of higher difficulty and will need at least two people to take the target(s) down. They are also usually the most rewarding, matching the difficulty.
» Part-time to full-time. Jobs that are part-time in nature or have no definite ending period can be considered open for the entirety of the month. You are free to ask for more details and whether it can become a more "permanent" job for your character (the answer is more than likely yes).
» Signing up. Most tasks do not require any official signups, and may be played with as soon as the task is open. Any limited tasks will be noted on the task board itself, and signup toplevels will be provided on that month's post.
» Payment. It can be assumed that is received upon completion, but only if the job is successful. We're going to trust the players and not require any link of "proof." So keep in mind that payment can be deducted or increased depending on job performance. If you have any questions about certain tasks and if payment would be altered under certain circumstances, just reply to your initial comment and we'll give you an answer.
» Handwaving. It's allowed, and since we're not requiring links, there's no way for us to actually track it. That said, we do encourage players to thread out at least one of their character's jobs, as they do provide CR opportunity for not only your character, but others as well.
❖ Submitting a Task
If you have a task idea OR if you have a character who would post up a task, submit it under the Task Submission thread! We're always open and welcome fresh new ideas. Some tasks can even lend to the plot, including yours. Alternatively, we also accept vague ideas and requests for certain types of tasks. They can be as silly, off the cuff, or s serious as you want—we take all kinds.
❖ Business Registration
If your character has started a business that you would like to be added to the Jobs & Businesses list, there are a couple of things you must do. First of all, you do not need mod permission—unless it might be of questionable nature. Otherwise, we'll come to you if we have questions. But you do need to have information about the business somewhere in the character's journal so others can reference it.
To have your business added, comment to the Business Registration thread and fill out the form. Once we add it, we will remove the comment. Any changes or updates should use the same thread.

Questions:
TASK IDEA/REQUEST
Type: General
Idea: SWORD CONVENTION. I have a few ideas for this actually that could lead it to a random multi-parter if desired.
1) The first basic idea is a special sword convention held in Shaarnath for all to display their weapons. Merchants and smiths would have their own stalls to display/sell their wares, expert swordsmen and smiths for panels, could have some sparring sessions for those interested, etc. The task itself would request for people to not only join but also help staff, supply swords, and even be part of a panel or have their own table if they want.
2) BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. The convention is ONLY for swords—no exceptions. And this makes the enthusiasts of other weapons a bit disgruntled. So they can either hold their own convention OR have people deliberately try to disrupt and sabotage SwordCon. So there could be a separate call asking for volunteers for that as well as countermeasures requests by SwordCon folk.
3) AND EVEN MORE. Dude that's a lot of weapons right there for the picking. How about some theft? Or counterfeit? That'll get some people angry.
4) One extra hour in the ballpit.
Questions: can we have something like this please please please :D :D : D:D

Requester: Darreth Royce
Task description: On a normal expedition to mine emotional cores out of the Ferril Mountains, some strange reading were noted in some of the deeper caverns. We’re looking for brave people to investigate these readings and dig up anything they can find. Beware, there seems to be fluctuations of emotions in these areas. Some of our usual miners have come back with various negative emotions plaguing them.
The mountain caverns will be littered with farmable emotional cores. Digging deeper, characters will unearth various large pieces of broken magitech and what seems to be rusted ancient armor pieces. There are larger scraps of metal that may be discovered, but cannot be removed from the rock. Pockets of steam trapped deep within the rock must be avoided or characters will be affected by random negative emotions for a short period of time (no more than three hours).
Reward:
2000/sylvs per emotional core found
5000/sylvs per abnormal finds

Requester: Peeply Lulu
Task description: On my usual weekly hike through the forest outside of Verens, I came across something pretty scary north west of Lake Niras! There's a formation of large rocks in a clearing in the forest, but something seems to have dug itself a hole below those rocks. When I went to inspect it, I saw what looked like a horrible monster I have never seen before still hiding in there! Fearing for my life, I ran away immediately before it could hurt me. If anyone can slay this creature, or figure out how to make it go away, giving me back my favorite hiking route again, I'll forever be indebted!
Reward: 1000 sylvs
Open or Limited: Open - There is no monster, it's just Golisopod's discarded shed, so it's not like anyone can actually kill it.

TASK IDEA/REQUEST
Player: LA
Type: General
Idea: A pretty simple idea that sounded like a fun idea. A reverse Cafe that opens up during the month. Girls have to dress like butlers and men have to dress like maids. Maybe there's a rumor going around that whoever pulls in the most customers gets an incredible prize, but it was all just a rouse to boost up the cafe's morale
Questions: No questions!
TASK REQUEST
Player: Kit
Type: Special
Idea: Based on this plot proposal, Blue, Archie and Plumeria have vandalized the Beast Master's Guild building with a large red-painted banner hung over the entrance stating 'MURDERERS GUILD' and red paint splattered down the sides of the building.
Obviously, the Guild is going to need some volunteers to (1) help clean all this mess up, but also (2) will need to find out who did it!
Here are some points of evidence we can say are left to help find the culprits:
-a few downy feathers (these can be discovered to be from Blue's Pidgeot's wings)
-a long, bleach-blonde hair
-the culprits wore gloves to prevent any fingerprints left behind, but shoeprints can be found all over the roof (some partial paint-prints of shoes as well)
-any night watchmen or enforcers that were in the area found themselves suddenly and quietly lulled to sleep for the couple hours when it happened, but only when they approached the wooded/park areas around the building
For anyone who manages to get an idea of who might have done it we could do a log for those that would like to play out attempting to apprehend any of the characters involved! Maybe RNG the task for whatever PC's or teamed-up groups of PC's gets the bounties, and the volunteers to clean up can be an open task?
Questions: I'm assuming since the Beast Master's Guild is a mod/game NPC that you guys would prefer to write the task for this hence submitting it as an idea rather than written out! Let me know if any more details are needed since we're still playing out the log.
Sorry for the lateness!
