— COMPLETE CRYSTALS + REGAINS —

Completed crystals have a variety of uses in the game, but there's one particular use that may interest the character: regaining an item from their home world. Thus this page serves two purposes: 1) track how many completed crystals a character can develop during their stay; 2) request regains if conditions are met.

The current Complete Crystals Spreadsheet can be found here.

❖ Crystal Guidelines

For the most part, determining whether a character's crystal is complete is determined by the player. After all, characters develop differently and some will be faster or slower than others. However, we do have at least one rule and some factors you should consider.

» Four Months. Four months is how long it would take for a character's crystal to be considered complete.

» Crystal development. Just a quick reminder that if you need some substantial reasons as to how your character's crystal develops a certain way, various events can hasten or slow development. Additionally, apathy and death can slow development, even set it back due to emotion drop depletion.

» Keep or donate. It is up to the character whether they wish to keep their crystal or donate it to the Arehtei. As crystals can be beneficial in either scenario, there's no actual "better" option. If uncertain, "keep" is considered the default, and it can be donated at a later time.

» Replacement. A reminder that characters do have to replace their crystals, and that can easily be done by visiting the collection centers in the city and requesting one.

» Player Discretion. As mentioned, this is still up to the player. As there is no mandatory tracker to be maintained, you will have to be aware of how your character's crystal is developing and be reasonable about it.

In order to actually consider your character's crystal complete, you must fill out this form. This form will help both you and us see how the character has developed, and it also serves a stop gap to prevent players who might just rush the process.

Player:
Character: Character | [personal profile] journal
Alignment:
Month/Year Joined of Previous Crystal: What month and year did the previous crystal complete/was turned in? If this is the first time, just list the MM/YY of when the character first joined and make a note that this is their first.
Month of Completion: The month the crystal is considered completed. This can be backdated in case you are filling this later.

State: This is asking if the crystal is mostly positive, negative, or neutral. Indicate with one of the following symbols: +, -, |.
Development Report: We really only want a general summary (no more than 250 words) of how the character has developed.
Donated or Keep? Indicate whether the character is giving their crystal to the Arehtei or keeping it. Choose "keep" if uncertain. You can change this at any time.
Questions: Any questions you might have.

All submissions will be automatically added to the spreadsheet. Characters can already assume their crystals are completed ICly.

❖ Regains Guidelines

For those who choose to their keep their crystals to eventually be used for regains, here are a few things you as a player should know ahead of time. Most of these mechanics will also be known to the characters.

» 1 crystal = 1 item. We're using a simple 1:1 transaction. It doesn't matter what the state of the crystal is, it just has to be complete to be used.

» 2+ crystals for more powerful and larger items. If the desired item is large like a vehicle or is a powerful object like a weapon then it will require at least two crystals.

» Item must belong to the character. Because the crystals have personal ties to the character, you can only regain an item that the character actually owns. They cannot regain an item that now belongs to someone else, and they cannot gain something from the future. The item has to be present on or near the character within the last six months before arriving in Empatheias, and in current ownership. This also means that a character cannot regain something for a friend.

» "Group" regains. One exception to the above rule is it is possible to pool crystals together for a shared item. Ownership rules still apply, so it must belong to those involved. So if there's a considerably large or powerful item that a cast may like as a whole, rather than wait for one person to develop multiple crystals to meet requirements, they can contribute theirs for the item.

» Items must be "portable." Basically the item must be able to move somehow. So unless it's an RV, no houses or buildings can be brought in.

» Standard nerfs apply. All regain items will conform to fit the setting as if they had been brought in through the initial application. Thus super large objects will still need to be downsized to reasonable size and any gamebreaking powerful objects will need to be nerfed to also be reasonable.

» Mod discretion. We do have discretion as to whether an item can actually be regained or not, and some items may be a case-by-case type. Thus you will need our approval before you can proceed ICly.

» Schedule with aligned Arehtei. After approved, you will need to set up an "appointment" with the character's aligned Arehtei on the scheduler. If it's a group, you'll need all involved Arehtei. At that point we can either thread it out or just hash out the details and be effectively handwaved.

» Disappears on use and no returns. Finally, all crystals used in the regain will be "consumed" upon use. This also means that regains are final and cannot be sent back. So if you decide to bring the plague upon the game...better hope there's a way to deal with it or a new plot development will be born.

And of course, we have a form for submissions. To also keep things organized, we are keeping regains in one place with this subthread, so please comment there. The form is also in the subthread, but here is how it will look like.

Player:
Character: Character | [personal profile] journal
Alignment:
Date of Regain: The IC date of when the regain will occur.
Crystal link(s): You will need to have completed the crystal form first, so link us to the particular crystal you'd like to use. NOTE: this crystal will be marked as use and cannot be used for any other purpose.
Regained Item: Description of the desired item.
Notes: If there are any nerfs that are to be applied, list them out here.
Questions: Any questions you might have.

The original Completed Crystals page is found here for those who need it!

❖ Questions

If you have any general questions about either of the processes that you'd like to ask prior to submitting the forms, feel free to ask them here.

Regained Item: The pokémon Articuno who Red had on him inside their pokéball at the time he came to Empatheias.
Notes: Articuno isn't really gamebreaking so should be okay in that regard.

State: - (around 60% negative)
Development Report: Apathy took the crystal a little longer to complete (not in time for the excursion), but that aside... the crystal's been generally positive for most of his stay, but it took a large dip down the negative zone sometime January due to the two-hit combo of Lavieti and Selenium. Jade's developed a slightly better appreciation of the people around him (even with his tendency to do whatever he wants) and even has found a few people he actually cares about, but January's generally done a huge number on his emotions, especially since it's forced him to deal with emotions and memories he'd rather not have anything to do with. Still, he's had a good bit of help for the ghosts that he's successfully overcome, which is why overall, the crystal didn't tank completely. Still, there's enough unusual negative emotions to overwhelm the initial positivity he managed to build up.
Donated or Keep? Keep for the moment, though he might donate it later once he's done satisfying his curiosity regarding it.

My question is kind of a two-parter with the first being if the Normin would count as something for the Zestiria crew to regain? Aside from brief scenes with two of them (Atakk and Phoenix), they aren't really characters in their own right and serve as more of a gameplay mechanic to augment the party's equipment.

The other thing I was wondering about was if it would be possible for anything regained from the Zestiria world to bring Malevolence with it or if it could develop on its own in Empatheias as a means to initiate a couple player plots in the future. (With mod permission, of course.)

How large would something need to be to need two crystals?

How about an Eopie? Everything Obi-Wan literally owns is on this back of this thing. Minus the baby of course.

Here is a better idea of their size compared to people. They're essentially a small camelid type creature with a short trunk.

Quick question on my end - also contains spoilers for SDR2/SDR2.5/DR3, so I'll be putting it under a spoiler tag:

Specifically in Super Dangan Ronpa 2.5, it is shown that Hinata has created an AI of himself in order to bring back Komaeda from his coma in the Neo World Program; it's never explicitly stated what happened to it afterward. The AI itself doesn't have enough personality to be considered applicable as a character due to the limited screentime he has, plus he has similar personality traits that Hinata has as both Kamukura and himself, but heavily leaning towards Kamukura. Would it be possible for Hinata to regain the AI - permissibly as a flash drive, which is most likely how he also brought in the Enoshima AI. If not, that's totally okay, too!

If it were to be OK for him to regain it, I was either planning on utilizing a options happen here, which would be either to regain the technology that would allow it to work at a later date or possibly ask if someone arrived with the technology. The other option was to have Hinata possibly start working on building up to that tech with all of the talents that he has at his disposal and utilizing the things he's seen with the teleporters / nanobots + Dunamis to come up with an alternative way to utilize it; of course, I'd make sure that he wouldn't be able to reach that point immediately / it would take him a few months to pull off and I'm cool if that's not possible, either!

I'm completely fine with him just regaining it as a flash drive and him not having the ability to access it overall and to just... have it as a trinket, too, as another alternative. He'd just be happy to have it with him since he's sentimental.

Hello mods! A little question for you: how much headcanon is accepted for items? Are implied things ok?

If you need the full story: Bianca explicitly uses Fly in game (hell, she even gives the HM both times) but none of her canon team members can learn it. So I usually headcanon she has a Flying-type she uses to explore - he isn't strong or anything, can hardly battle, he's just a support mon. Would it be acceptable to ask for him?

[personal profile] futureprofessor 2017-02-23 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome! Forgot to ask, would one crystal be enough for him?

Perfect! Thanks a lot for the answers!

Can items that we can deduce a character owns be regained? In one of Nobita's movies, he hatches a wind creature named Fuuko from an egg, and creates a "disguise" for her to make her look like a stuffed animal. At the end of the movie, Fuuko sacrifices herself to stop the villain, leaving behind the disguise. It doesn't show up later, but could I have him regain the disguise now stuffed as an actual stuffed animal, since I believe he'd want to keep a memorial of her?

Development Report: Mikleo was coming from a rather emotional situation, having lost his Gramps and dealing with the acceptance of Sorey eventually going to sleep to purify Maotelus. However, given his character, Mikleo was able to stay collected and calm even during tough times. But once Sorey arrived he was able to dwell in such sadness and allow himself for once to allow the pain take him instead of trying to keep a strong front. He's less likely to hide what bothers him now and while he still has that patience he won't easily let his friend hold their own pain in now with his calm demeanor.

Development Report: Bianca has settled really well in Verens. Sure, she's had sad moments here and there, especially nostalgic moments of missing home, but overall, she's having lots of fun. She's exploring new places, seeing new creatures, making lots of friends, getting to know important Trainers from her world, having her first crush, being the proud owner of her own farm... It's been a ride. There's two main things she's learned: to relate to people that don't understand how her world works, which is harder than it sounds (Darwin' cockfighting joke goes here) and to be a little more patient. She's not entirely there yet, she still gets excited easily, rambling and dragging you to places. But Verens (and Red, mostly) has put her in situations that she can't deal with her usual over-excitement, and that, little by little, is growing patience in her.
Donated or Keep? Will donate it (for a regain).
