[ canon update ]
If you'd like to update your character to a different canon point, fill out the form below and comment to this entry. Please note that characters can only be updated to source material that has been out for at least one month. We will try and process canon updates within 48 hours.
ICly, When your character is on a canon update, they completely disappear from the world. It's almost as if they were removed the game, however there's a key difference. Their amulet will remain and be in a translucent state. Characters will be gone from the game from three days to a week. They will reappear wherever their amulet is and can continue their progress from wherever they left off. They will also retain all of their memories.

Character: Rinoa Heartilly
Current Canon Point: Before the concert at Fisherman's Horizon
Updated Canon Point: After the Ragnarok lands and Rinoa is taken away
Updated Background: Selphie, Rinoa, Zell, Irvine, and Quistis hold a concert for Squall as a means of celebrating his becoming Commander of SeeD. In the game, if Rinoa likes the music being played, she convinces Squall to trust his friends more, but if she doesn't, then she argues with Squall and runs away. This doesn't particularly affect the storyline, but it's just a minor tidbit. Rinoa, in this case, would have convinced Squall to trust them more.
Squall's first command is to free Balamb from Galbadian occupation, and then they go to Trabia Garden, the third Garden (schools that train their students to become SeeDs) in their world, to help them out as they were previously attacked by missiles. It's here that the group (except for Rinoa) reminisce about their childhood and how connected they all are. Rinoa then speaks about how she feels out of place and a burden, as well as her fears of the future.
Once set, the group goes back to Balamb Garden to travel to Edea's Orphanage, where most of the group grew up in, but meets Galbadia Garden along the way. What is called the "Battle of the Gardens" ensues, and in the middle of a fight, Rinoa falls of the Garden's edge and is saved by Squall. The two of them have a short chat about the ring Squall usually wears, since Zell gave it to her for safekeeping. Squall talks about Griever and says that the lion symbolises pride and courage. Rinoa wonders if she can become a lion, too.
Eventually, Sorceress Edea is defeated at the hands of Squall's party, but with Rinoa having come along, she begins to act weird, as if not herself. She revives Seifer who should have died in the fight, and then collapses, not to become conscious again after a long period of time. Squall visits Rinoa at Dr. Kadowaki's clinic as much as possible, and when Edea (who is "back", as Quistis puts it) calls to speak with Squall, he and his party visit the orphanage and learn about Sorceress Ultimecia who is from the future and wanted to use Edea as a means of looking for Sorceress Adel. With the new information at hand, Squall asks Edea about Rinoa and if there's anything she knows about what happened.
Squall eventually looks for Ellone, a woman who can send people's consciousness back in time, so he can discover what happened. By this time, Squall realises he's already in love with Rinoa and wants to do whatever he can to bring her back. More adventures and travelling happen, and Squall heads to the Lunar Base space station to find out what happened to Rinoa and to meet Ellone.
It's while Rinoa is alone in the med lab, unconscious, that Ultimecia begins to move again. With posession of Rinoa's body, she heads for the control room and deactivates all the security for Adel's tomb. All guards who try to fight her are fended off, including Squall. Rinoa then heads outside the station into outer space to free Adel and revive her from her frozen state. That done, Ultimecia leaves Rinoa to die in space. Squall rescues Rinoa and the two of them discover Ragnarok—an airship floating aimlessly in space—and head over there.
Fights ensue due to the monsters crawling in the airship, but once the ship has been secured, Squall communicates with the Esthair station and asks for guidance on landing the ship. During the whole travel time, Rinoa and Squall open up to each other about a lot of things, about how Rinoa finds comfort and happiness in Squall the most. Their conversation is intercepted when the station asks who is present aboard the ship, and it's revealed and confirmed that Rinoa's become a sorceress. Rinoa then tells Squall that they can't be together anymore, nor should she be with anybody. People will be angry with her now that she's become a sorceress. She then cries about how she's so scared and she doesn't want to go back, but the ship lands eventually and she is taken away.
Updated Personality: Due to her overwhelming amount of fear and hesitation, she's become a bit milder, nicer, and more doubtful. Not much will have changed—she remains bubbly and energetic—just that she'll become more conscious of the people around her because she doesn't want to lose them all the more. She becomes fearful of people now that she's become a sorceress, but only because her thoughts get the best of her. She's afraid of hurting others, and she's also afraid that people might not want to be around her anymore because of her sorceress status. In turn, she distances herself from people unless and until they tell her that she'll be fine and they still like her for who she is.
Updated Abilities:
Rinoa's become a sorceress, and that includes the ability to use magic without junctioning oneself to a Guardian Force.
Sorceress abilities differ from one sorceress to another, apart from the whole magic business. In Rinoa's case, her abilities manifest through flowers and feathers, both acting as an extension of her being. The flower petals and feathers can't talk, but they can be used to locate people. She also has life-giving abilities, an example would be the one that was previously mentioned, when she revived Seifer.
Apart from her Combine Limit Break, she now has the Angel Wing Limit Break. She grows white wings and her magic becomes stronger than normal. This also grants her the ability to fly for a limited period of time.
As for Guardian Forces, she'll also have a couple new equipped with her: Pandemona, Leviathan, and Tonberry.
Other: I'm 100% fine with Rinoa's life-giving abilities being nerfed. Instead of being able to revive people, I'd like to propose her having the ability to wake people up from their unconscious state without feeling any pain whatsoever. If this is still too OP, let me know!
