— CANON UPDATE —

If you'd like to update your character to a different canon point, fill out the form below and comment to this entry. Please note that characters can only be updated to source material that has been out for at least one month. We will try and process canon updates within 48 hours.

ICly, When your character is on a canon update, they completely disappear from the world. It's almost as if they were removed the game, however there's a key difference. Their amulet will remain and be in a translucent state. Characters will be gone from the game from three days to a week. They will reappear wherever their amulet is and can continue their progress from wherever they left off. They will also retain all of their memories.

If you have any questions, contact one of the mods or ask them on the form.

Player: Missy
Character: Riku
Current Canon Point: 358/2 Days: right before he defeats Roxas
Updated Canon Point: Dream Drop Distance: right before heading off to get Kairi

Updated Background:
I'm going to try and summarize this the best I can because this is over the course of two games. /o\

Riku gives into his darkness, transforms into an ugly old man named Ansem and defeats Roxas so that he can bring him back to DiZ and they can restore Sora's memories with the help of Namine. Riku keeps an eye on Roxas while he's in Twilight Town to make sure no funny business goes down while Namine works on those memories of Sora's and learns that the whole thing with Sora is just for revenge which pisses Riku off to say the least. That's what you get for trusting a guy named DiZ I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ When Roxas goes off to Sora, DiZ tells Riku to get rid of Namine aka kill her and Riku is not having any of that and instead has her go with Axel to ensure her safety. King Mickey finds Riku and is all OH BOY, RIKU! and Riku basically tells Mickey listen, you're my friend, don't sell me out to Sora because I look like a mess and Mickey is all uhhh oooook because they're pals. This is when Riku decides to troll Sora in the form of leaving him clues here and there which drives Sora batty because he knows it's Riku but can't quite catch up to him. Axel gets a little desperate at some point, kidnaps Kairi, Riku is all not today and rescues her as old man Ansem. Riku eventually accidentally comes across Sora, though Sora doesn't know it's him but is all WAIT A SECOND HERE when he sees the cloaked man (Riku) wielding Soul Eater, Riku's Keyblade. He pretty much figures it's Riku and is kind of mad that he's avoiding him but also glad to know he's ok.

Kairi gets kidnapped, Riku is all didn't I say not today??, heads off to save both her and Namine and Kairi lets him know she knows his secret but Riku is like ok and just leaves... except he ends up coming back to save her from Heartless and gives her her own Keyblade so that she can fight as well. After Sora defeats Xigbar, Riku is like welp I guess I'll split then but Kairi pulls him back on over and Sora, after feeling out with his feelings, realizes old man Ansem is actually Riku, starts shaking and crying, and the Destiny Trio is once again together. But Riku is like no time for tears, Sora, got stuff to do and off they go to defeat the rest of the Organization. When they reach the top of the castle, Mickey and DiZ are there and then a big revelation happens: DiZ is Ansem the Wise. Some confrontation happens, the machine Ansem the Wise is using EXPLODES and Riku somehow magically goes back to his old self, tossing off the blindfold and cloak and is like LET'S DO THIS, SORA. So off they go to confront Xemnas and a battle happens, Riku saves Sora's behind and gets hit pretty badly because of it but he and Sora and their power of friendship defeat Xemnas in the end because good guys always win. Sora ends up dragging a badly injured and totally tired out Riku with him for a long time until they reach the Dark Meridian and they sit on the beach, have some words with each other, Riku apologizing and letting some feels out, then find a message in a bottle and Sora opens a Door of Light for them to walk through where they are sent back home to Destiny Islands, reuniting with their friends. /end Kingdom Hearts II

Enter Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
Our adventure here begins with Riku and Sora heading off to see Yen Sid in regards to taking the Mark of Mastery exam which is basically like THE EXAM to take if you want to be a Keyblade Master and is important because that annoying guy Xehanort is probably going to come back at some point. Riku is like YEAH I'LL DO THIS to prove to himself that he's worthy of wielding a Keyblade after everything that he's done with the darkness and all and so he and Sora are sent to the Sleeping Worlds where they need to wake me up inside up some worlds there that are, well, asleep essentially thanks to Ansem. Everything seems fine and dandy at first but then, typical, they get separated from each other but Riku finds some pretty cool stuff on his lonesome so I guess that's ok for now?? Riku meets up with a guy named Joshua, learns some stuff from him, then continues on his way meeting new people, fighting new baddies, you know, typical adventure stuff. Ansem pops out of nowhere and essentially heckles Riku on his journey, trying to get him to give into the darkness but Riku is like I'm not about that life anymore, I walk the dawn, old man, and rejects him. But bad stuff happens anyways and Riku learns that Sora's fallen into a deep sleep in The World That Never Was and hurries his way to save him.

Sora's heart has been damaged and has left him in a coma and Riku, frazzled by this, tries to wake Sora up but that just triggers the darkness in Sora's heart which activates a nightmare dream eater and fights Riku, losing to him. This is where Ansem is like SURPRISE and Riku is like god not you again and it's revealed that Riku is A DREAM EATER purifying Sora's dreams of Nightmares. Ansem tries to do the whole possession thing with Riku again because the guy clearly can't take a hint but Riku has a trick up his sleeve thanks to Terra way back when which is to make his inner darkness his own power and thus, Ansem is defeated because no one has time for this tomfoolery when Sora needs help. Riku ends up coming across a young Xehanort and it looks bad but Mickey comes to the rescue only for it to be bad again and Riku has to fight Xehanort. Riku eventually wins but bad guys always have more than one battle in them and also like to talk a lot, the young Xehanort pretty much telling Riku and Mickey his plans for the X-Blade with Ventus and Vanitas. It's during this "bad guy speech" that it's revealed that Riku was originally intended to be a vessel for him but gosh darn, Riku managed to become immune to the darkness with being exposed to it so much and claiming it as his own. So, you know, young Xehanort is peeved and decides to use Sora instead. Riku is like not today but just when things look bad, Lea comes to the rescue along with Donald and Goofy.

Riku brings the sleeping Sora back with him and dives into his body to try and fix his fractured heart but, of course this wouldn't be simple and Riku ends up having to fight Sora clad in Ventus' Keyblade armor which has been corrupted by nightmares and darkness. Riku defeats this, jumps into a memory where he meets Roxas, Xion, and Ventus before he can proceed and Ansem reappears again and at this point you're just like oh my god just go away but he actually lets Riku know about Sora's ability to connect with other's hearts and how that might be used to bring others back who have been lost. He lets Riku know that with defeating that nightmare and having those chats with Roxas, Xion, and Ventus, he woke Sora and Riku is like welp, I'm out, see ya and goes back to the real world. It's there that he reunites with Sora and Yen Sid proclaims Riku a Keyblade Master.

Updated Personality:
Honestly, the biggest thing you need to know is that he's no longer the My Chemical Romance and Linkin Park era Riku from 358/2 Days. That is to say, he's a helluva lot less difficult and while he still has a mood every now and then (who doesn't?), it's nowhere near as often or bad as they previously were. Riku has matured amazingly enough and has come to fully accept himself and his darkness to the point where he's become more or less immune to the darkness and the corrupting effects it can have on a person and their heart... which really ticks the bad guys off. He also no longer shoulders heavy doubt or guilt for the wrongdoings he's done in the past and has finally come to forgive himself for his behavior which has only made him stronger. He's actually a bit humble as well, totally letting Sora have the spotlight, but still has that playfully arrogant side to him that sometimes comes out, oops. But his attitude and the way he perceives himself has drastically changed to the point where he's now confident (and a Keyblade Master!!) in himself, his abilities, his darkness, and his friends. No longer a puppet to be pulled this way and that by the darkness and no more moping around while skulking around in the shadows with a blindfold, thank goodness.

Updated Abilities:
Riku will be bringing in two additional Keyblades (if that's ok??) which are:

Combined Keyblade but only bringing in his half of it as the other half belongs to Sora. please note that Sora does not have his half of this Keyblade currently and will need to reacquire it or regain it w/e.

Ocean's Rage which is exclusive to Riku.

He's also learned a few new techniques which are more dark-related magic type things:

Dark Splicer: inflicts Stop on enemies at the beginning of the attack and deals Dark damage, allowing him to teleport around the enemy multiple times while slashing at them.

Dark Break: allows him to leap into the air and strike enemies from above three times before creating a shockwave upon landing.

Dark Barrier: allows him to block attacks from any direction.

Sacrifice: allows him to execute a powerful attack at the expense of HP.

Zantetsuken: allows him to execute a single, impossibly fast Keyblade strike, usually dealing a devastating amount of damage.

Doubleflight: allows him to leap higher by means of a second jump.

I'm not bringing him in with abilities such as Meteor or Meteor Crash because of how intense those ones are.

Other:
He cut his hair and I'm mad? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, Riku will probably be leaving some time this month.

Questions:
This is more for a future reference sort of thing MAYBE but are Dream Eaters allowed to be regains? Specifically Komory Bat which is like Riku's buddy in 3D. Or... is he able to come back from canon update with Komory Bat? Thank you and sorry that background is so long. /o\
