— CANON UPDATE —

If you'd like to update your character to a different canon point, fill out the form below and comment to this entry. Please note that characters can only be updated to source material that has been out for at least one month. We will try and process canon updates within 48 hours.

ICly, When your character is on a canon update, they completely disappear from the world. It's almost as if they were removed the game, however there's a key difference. Their amulet will remain and be in a translucent state. Characters will be gone from the game from three days to a week. They will reappear wherever their amulet is and can continue their progress from wherever they left off. They will also retain all of their memories.

If you have any questions, contact one of the mods or ask them on the form.

Character: Blake Belladonna
Current Canon Point: Vol 4 Ep 11, Taking Control
Updated Canon Point: End of Vol 5

Updated Background:

Here onwards.

Summary: Blake spent most of V5 in her hometown of Menagerie, wrestling with nefarious plots against her family and the political apathy of her people. She struggled to figure out how the Faunus could aid the defense of Haven (the next target of Remnant's evil conspiracy) and how to keep her family safe from an increasingly militant and dangerous White Fang led by her former partner, Adam Taurus. With the aid of Sun, she avoided being kidnapped by her former friend Ilia, now a bitter and violent Fang agent, and helped her parents fend off a White Fang attack on their family household. She and Ilia dueled. It was homoerotic. The fight ended with her dad saving Ilia's life, and the two of them resolving their differences. Turned out Ilia was super in love with Blake.

Gripped by the drama of the moment, Blake delivered a moving speech to the Faunus of Menagerie, finally convincing them to give a shit about random distant human lives. She gathered up an army -- including Ilia, who did a nice heel-face turn -- and brought them to Haven via unexplained means, where they were just in time to foil Adam's megalomaniac power trip. Also, the team is back together now! There's still a lot for them to resolve emotionally, but they're back together.

Updated Personality: Blake has become somewhat more emotionally mature! She's had some time to think on the wisdom of being able to accept help from friends instead of always trying to go it alone -- shown in how she asks Sun for assistance when she needs it. She's also grown some in her recovery from what was an unhealthy and abusive relationship with Adam. At the end of V5, she does a really good job of not allowing him to emotionally provoke her, responding with neither anger or fear, but the mere acknowledgement that she has better things to do than waste energy on this guy. She's also had plenty of time to reflect on her relationship with her teammates, and how much she misses and loves them -- though she's been working on this in Empatheias too, so there's some continuity there.

Updated Abilities: Same old, same old.

Other: Can I backdate this to have her have been gone the last couple days - 18th-20th? It's cool if not! sorry for being a slow turtle

Character: Nora Valkyrie
Current Canon Point: Post-V4
Updated Canon Point: Post-V5

Updated Background: Nothing much. Whoopdee-doo, they're in Mistral and they find out more about the Maidens and the Relics through Leonardo Lionheart, Headmaster of Haven. Then Oscar decides to show up, and Nora is ready to beat him down when he says he's looking for Ruby (because the last person who asked for her wanted to abduct her) but instead she gets the shock of her life when she, along with Jaune, Ren and Ruby, find out that Ozpin's soul is residing in Oscar and can take control of Oscar.

Ozpin then reveals his true nature and offers to train the kids (including Oscar) so they would be better equipped to face the evils threatening them. During one training session, Nora tells Oscar that she found her Semblance when she was struck by lightning on one "crazy Thursday". Get it? GET IT?

While she's cooking (and eating whatever they're cooking), Weiss and Yang arrive and she witnesses Ruby reunited with her sister and her partner. They take some time to catch up with each other and eat together, even mentioning parts of their old lives back in Beacon. Nora even wants to take on Yang at arm wrestling upon seeing Yang's new mechanical arm, but let's just say Yang had the upper hand.

Nora is also involved in the battle that ensues when they discover Lionheart's betrayal and see Raven, who creates a portal for Cinder and her cronies to arrive. She takes part, even volunteering to watch over Jaune while he helps Weiss heal from being impaled with a spear, only leaving them to engage Hazel (again) when he knocks down Ren. When Hazel attempts to electrocute her, he gets the shock of his life, literally, when she's strengthened and manages to beat him down for what he did to Ren.

She also bears witness to Yang's victory in securing the relic and the eventual reunion of the entirety of Team RWBY.

Updated Personality: Not much. Nora still retains her ability to find fun and cheerfulness in any situation (such as when talking about the day she discovered her Semblance, and of course when Weiss and Yang made it to Mistral and they met), and remains a team player. She continues to look out for her friends, knows when to listen to them and is always ready to lend a hand for anything.

Updated Abilities: We just learn how Nora got her semblance and she trains with Ruby, Jaune, Ren and Oscar under Ozpin to gain better combat skills. There don't seem to be any specific new moves she's gained from what we see but we can assume Nora is a better fighter now. Brace yourselves.

Other: I'll uh, be backdating this to the 19th to the 21st. Essentially, she will be gone one day after the other RWBY canon updaters, and will return a day after they do, too.

Character: Hunk
Current Canon Point: End of Season 1
Updated Canon Point: Season 5 Episode 6: When the gang is passing out from lack of oxygen!

Updated Background: Soooooo Hunk is playing a ridiculous amount of catch up. Finally. The last thing he remembered back home was being sent into a corrupted wormhole. I am going to link this here for more detailed background on seasons 2-4. A brief summary of all that is:

Season 2: Hunk gets to chill and save some brainwashed mermaids, visit a wonderful space mall, learn about a secret rebel Galra force who Keith has ties to, harass a giant, dead planet eating space worm, and fight with his teammates to take down a meched out version of the big bad Zarkon, only to realize that their leader has magically poofed from his cockpit!

Season 3: Lion Musical Chairs! Hunk gets to keep Yellow, thankfully, and then deals with Keith's "unique" style of leadership while trying not to die as Lotor essentially just fucks around with Team Voltron. The gang visits an alternate reality where Alteans are Bad! and chase Lotor around to get back the transreality comet he stole from them, and learn the story about how the Lions came to exist and how the Galra came to dominate the universe.

Season 4: With Keith dual wielding Team Voltron and the Blade of Marmora duties, the team focuses on building up relations with their growing coalition, and rebel forces. Eventually, bad shit goes down and Shiro takes up leadership again with Keith leaving the team. Hunk gets to meet Matt after Pidge brings him back, and the team learn that Zarkon is trying to take out his own son.

The Voltron Show happens, but we're not going to talk about that.

The coalition comes together and the team goes all out to take back 1/3 of the Galra occupied worlds! Except things don't go as planned and when everything looks bleak and terrible, Lotor actually shows up to save the day?!

Season 5 is where things pick up pace and is where Hunk will be returning from! The summaries leave some aspects out as I tried to keep them more focused on the parts Hunk was around for.

Lotor proves useful in giving the team intel on key Galra outposts and facilities to take down. Eventually, he informs them about Pidge and Matt's father being held in a prison, but unfortunately they don't find him there. Zarkon calls them and offers to exhange their father for Lotor. The team debates the pros and cons of this, with Pidge being the most vocal about giving Lotor up, and Lance agreeing as well, but Hunk for once taking the opposite side, and believing it better to keep Lotor.

Eventually the team decides to go through with the switch only to find that Zarkon has betrayed the deal and sent a hologram of Pidge's father out. Lotor and Zarkon duel while the others attempt to rescue Pidge's father. They are ultimately successful in their rescue, and Lotor kills Zarkon seemingly once and for all.

With Zarkon gone, there is a power void in the Galra empire and a perfect change to put Lotor on the throne. Lotor brings up the Kral Zera which is where the next leader of the Galra will be decided. With all the most powerful commanders planning to attend, the team things it is too dangerous to go with Voltron, while Shiro tries to pull rank as the leader and insist they go, eventually snapping at Lance who tries to calm the arguing between Shiro and Allura. The decision gets put on hold when the Olkari are attacked by the Galra. After a difficult battle the team gets a chance to rest.

Lotor informs the team about the most likely candidates to attend the Kral Zera, and Shiro again asserts that they assist Lotor in claiming the throne. When the team decides against it, Shiro takes the Black Lion and goes with Lotor alone to the Kral Zera. By the time the team realizes they've left, the two have arrived at the ceremony. Lotor fights a beefed up Sendak, with Keith joining the fray as he had been there on a Blade of Marmora mission to blow the whole thing up. Just when it seems things are getting a bit too hot to handle, the others show up and Voltron cleans house, allowing Lotor to take the throne.

Lotor invites the team to Galra Central Command, where they learn parts of the empire have aligned themselves with Lotor, while others were still looking to contest and take control. While Shiro and Coran go to share systems information, and Allura goes with Lotor to check out Haggars sweet loot room, Hunk goes off on an actually fun series of adventures with Lance, Pidge, and their new Sentry Robot Buddy! After tweaking it to know what fun is, the four do things such as blow up food goo, taking hilarious photos, golfing with wrecked sentry's arms, tying a pair of guards up and them ramming them together, before ultimately sending their Sentry Robot Buddy off into space taped up to a Robeast coffin! The trio salute their starbound friend as it blasts off to who knows where.

While those three were having a blast, Lotor and Allura learned of the location of a legendary Altean Atlantis. Hidden in a white hole, the team attempts to enter the hidden realm, but ultimately get blasted out of it, losing power to their lions and the castleship. Lotor realizes that only the chosen Alteans can enter, and so Allura and him enter the white hole together. The rest of the team hangs back in the castleship, that is slowly losing oxygen without any of the power available. Hunk, Pidge and Coran attempt to repair the ship, while Shiro and Lance talk in the outside hall. Just when they're almost out of air, Allura and Lotor return and save them by returning power to the ship.

Hunk is being pulled from this moment when the team is all pretty much at the end of their oxygen and passing out.

Updated Personality: Hunk's personality is pretty much the same. However, his skills at piloting and fighting have grown, giving him a bit more confidence in those areas. For the most part this update is more about him catching up events wise with the rest of his canonmates.

Updated Abilities: No new abilities here, although his bayard canon can take on a slightly different shape.

Other: Given the massive amount of time he has just experienced back home, and having over a year's worth of memories in Empatheias, AND suffering from some slight oxygen deprivation, Hunk is going to be a bit sick and out of it when he first returns. His memories from his time in Empatheias will be shaky as well initially, taking a few days for things in his poor head to settle and start making sense.

Hunk will be gone for a week for this update.

Questions: None.

Character: Scrooge McDuck
Current Canon Point: After the finale of DuckTales
Updated Canon Point: After DuckTales Remastered

Updated Background: Here! Basically, Scrooge went on a worldwide (and then some) trek to hunt down some incredibly rare treasures, with a few hangers-on along the way. After trekking through the Amazon, the Himalayas, and even spelunking on the moon, Scrooge located the treasures, only to have them stolen by one of his arch-nemesis, Magica de Spell. She also kidnapped his nephews, wanting his Number One Dime (key to an intense spell of hers) in return. This forced Scrooge to work together with another arch-nemesis, Flintheart Glomgold, who had interest in the rare treasures; if they went in together, he could get the riches and Scrooge could get his nephews back.

...If only Magica and Glomgold weren't working together in secret. This was revealed after Scrooge battled his way through Magica's fortress, where Glomgold absconded with the Dime and Magica used the treasures to summon the demonic Dracula Duck (look, you can't make this stuff up). Scrooge had a showdown with the powerful vampire but won out in the end, rescued his nephews, reclaimed his Dime from an arguing Glomgold and Magica, and destroyed her volcanic fortress in the process. All in an adventure capitalist's day's work.

Updated Personality: Scrooge is as Scrooge was, so nothing new here.

Updated Abilities: Pogo cane!

Other: It's not actually clear where DuckTales Remastered is in the canon, but given the appearances of late-series characters, for all intents and purposes for this game I'm sticking it after the finale.

Character: Emizel
Current Canon Point: The very beginning of postgame (after epilogue)
Updated Canon Point: All of postgame + Fuka Mode + Netherbattle Tournament

Updated Background:
Postgame TL;DR: Destroying Fear the Great created a hole in the universe that for whatever the reason, reacted to the anyone's desires and made it a reality. Even though Asagi was the one closest proximity to it, it was actually others that had an effect on the Netherworld. Axel became popular, Flonne spread love and peace, Etna had the nicest body, etc. Each time it changed it also had a stronger effect on the world, and the previous effect was forgotten about almost immediately; essentially like a mind control.

Fuka/Desco Show TL;DR: Emizel stops Fuka's attempt to raid the vault in the Netherworld Mint, even if he did loose against them. He does not play a big part in the episodes, but he was the one that did Fuka that her memories would be gone if she reincarnates. He primarily just acted as the exposition for how Death do their job in that world, even being the one that sent souls to the Red Moon at the beginning of it. It's implied some that Emizel will eventually (whenever that be, judging how the scenario ends) be the one that sends Fuka's soul too.

Netherbattle Tournament, as the name would imply, was basically a tournament arc created by King Krichevskoy. Emizel did not get very far in it (presuming from the fact he fought fairly early on), but he did meet more demons from other Netherworlds, like Laharl and Mao.

Only other minor side story is the Flashback Episode where Emizel got to hear how Fenrich and Valvatorez met. Maybe note worthy? But nothing that changes Emizel's character. Really he would be the same with or without it.

Updated Personality: Emizel is more confident in himself by now, and less worried about what others think and fairly mellow about it (though can be easily rallied if called a child, or anything similar). Far less concerned about not instilling the demon image and more chill to be how he wants to be. Otherwise he's still roughly the same.

Updated Abilities: No new abilities. Although Emizel is more than likely even stronger than he was already. And more efficent in other weapons (namely bows as that was his secondary weapon in battles such as the tournament, and obviously his scythe).

Other: I'm okay with him disappearing as soon as the approval. Malenzio is going to be staying at the wyvern shelter/refuge/sanctuary until he returns.

Questions: I guess not..?

I'm linking it because the movie is just over a month old and here there be LOTS of spoilers.

Also, I'd like the update to happen after the expedition, if that's okay.

I'm sure I'm overthinking half of these points, but just let me know if you need clarification or if we should limit or nerf any of these other abilities.

If accepted, I'd like to wait until around the 5th or 7th of July to yank Asbel from the game, so he and his CR will have a little time to recover from the excursion.

Updated Canon Point: Middle of DGS2 Case 5, before the Legendary Deduction

Updated Background: DGS2 Spoilers.
Case 3
Case 4
Case 5, Up to the Recess

Updated Personality: His core character is still the same overall, but putting it simply, Naruhodou comes into his own as a defense attorney and has more confidence in himself. He no longer sees himself as just a substitute, but is now dedicated to his role as a defense attorney. He was actually excited when he received a case immediately after Chief Vortex lifted his ban from standing in court. He's taken charge of his own destiny and is more capable of handling things on his own and making decisions without faltering as much.

Updated Abilities: The Power of Faith

Other: Karuma (the katana) will be coming home with him and will come back with the tip chipped off. He will lose the Megundal case files, but will gain all the evidence he was carrying in the court records, since he will be brought back in the middle of a trial. I will have him leave Empatheias August 11th and return around August 17 or 18th.

Character: Rinoa Heartilly
Current Canon Point: Before the concert at Fisherman's Horizon
Updated Canon Point: After the Ragnarok lands and Rinoa is taken away

Updated Background: Selphie, Rinoa, Zell, Irvine, and Quistis hold a concert for Squall as a means of celebrating his becoming Commander of SeeD. In the game, if Rinoa likes the music being played, she convinces Squall to trust his friends more, but if she doesn't, then she argues with Squall and runs away. This doesn't particularly affect the storyline, but it's just a minor tidbit. Rinoa, in this case, would have convinced Squall to trust them more.

Squall's first command is to free Balamb from Galbadian occupation, and then they go to Trabia Garden, the third Garden (schools that train their students to become SeeDs) in their world, to help them out as they were previously attacked by missiles. It's here that the group (except for Rinoa) reminisce about their childhood and how connected they all are. Rinoa then speaks about how she feels out of place and a burden, as well as her fears of the future.

Once set, the group goes back to Balamb Garden to travel to Edea's Orphanage, where most of the group grew up in, but meets Galbadia Garden along the way. What is called the "Battle of the Gardens" ensues, and in the middle of a fight, Rinoa falls of the Garden's edge and is saved by Squall. The two of them have a short chat about the ring Squall usually wears, since Zell gave it to her for safekeeping. Squall talks about Griever and says that the lion symbolises pride and courage. Rinoa wonders if she can become a lion, too.

Eventually, Sorceress Edea is defeated at the hands of Squall's party, but with Rinoa having come along, she begins to act weird, as if not herself. She revives Seifer who should have died in the fight, and then collapses, not to become conscious again after a long period of time. Squall visits Rinoa at Dr. Kadowaki's clinic as much as possible, and when Edea (who is "back", as Quistis puts it) calls to speak with Squall, he and his party visit the orphanage and learn about Sorceress Ultimecia who is from the future and wanted to use Edea as a means of looking for Sorceress Adel. With the new information at hand, Squall asks Edea about Rinoa and if there's anything she knows about what happened.

Squall eventually looks for Ellone, a woman who can send people's consciousness back in time, so he can discover what happened. By this time, Squall realises he's already in love with Rinoa and wants to do whatever he can to bring her back. More adventures and travelling happen, and Squall heads to the Lunar Base space station to find out what happened to Rinoa and to meet Ellone.

It's while Rinoa is alone in the med lab, unconscious, that Ultimecia begins to move again. With posession of Rinoa's body, she heads for the control room and deactivates all the security for Adel's tomb. All guards who try to fight her are fended off, including Squall. Rinoa then heads outside the station into outer space to free Adel and revive her from her frozen state. That done, Ultimecia leaves Rinoa to die in space. Squall rescues Rinoa and the two of them discover Ragnarok—an airship floating aimlessly in space—and head over there.

Fights ensue due to the monsters crawling in the airship, but once the ship has been secured, Squall communicates with the Esthair station and asks for guidance on landing the ship. During the whole travel time, Rinoa and Squall open up to each other about a lot of things, about how Rinoa finds comfort and happiness in Squall the most. Their conversation is intercepted when the station asks who is present aboard the ship, and it's revealed and confirmed that Rinoa's become a sorceress. Rinoa then tells Squall that they can't be together anymore, nor should she be with anybody. People will be angry with her now that she's become a sorceress. She then cries about how she's so scared and she doesn't want to go back, but the ship lands eventually and she is taken away.

Updated Personality: Due to her overwhelming amount of fear and hesitation, she's become a bit milder, nicer, and more doubtful. Not much will have changed—she remains bubbly and energetic—just that she'll become more conscious of the people around her because she doesn't want to lose them all the more. She becomes fearful of people now that she's become a sorceress, but only because her thoughts get the best of her. She's afraid of hurting others, and she's also afraid that people might not want to be around her anymore because of her sorceress status. In turn, she distances herself from people unless and until they tell her that she'll be fine and they still like her for who she is.

Updated Abilities:

Rinoa's become a sorceress, and that includes the ability to use magic without junctioning oneself to a Guardian Force.

Sorceress abilities differ from one sorceress to another, apart from the whole magic business. In Rinoa's case, her abilities manifest through flowers and feathers, both acting as an extension of her being. The flower petals and feathers can't talk, but they can be used to locate people. She also has life-giving abilities, an example would be the one that was previously mentioned, when she revived Seifer.

Apart from her Combine Limit Break, she now has the Angel Wing Limit Break. She grows white wings and her magic becomes stronger than normal. This also grants her the ability to fly for a limited period of time.

As for Guardian Forces, she'll also have a couple new equipped with her: Pandemona, Leviathan, and Tonberry.

Other: I'm 100% fine with Rinoa's life-giving abilities being nerfed. Instead of being able to revive people, I'd like to propose her having the ability to wake people up from their unconscious state without feeling any pain whatsoever. If this is still too OP, let me know!

Character: Charles-Henri Sanson
Current Canon Point: Post-London Singularity
Updated Canon Point: Post-Camelot Singularity

Updated Background: After facing Solomon in London, Chaldea and all its Servants must correct another singularity that has formed in North America. Queen Medb, (in)famous in Irish folklore, has made a wish upon the Holy Grail that turned the great hero Cu Chulainn into a twisted, altered berserker who only seeks to rule and to kill all who oppose him.

America, which is only beginning to emerge from a group of colonies in the late 1700's, has been plunged into war wherein figures from Irish mythology battle with the "Presi-King", Thomas Edison, and his mass-produced mechanical army and the Servants surrounding him. Considering the historical significance the United States of America has on the history of mankind, Chaldea works to end the war by joining forces with other Servants scattered throughout the country and eventually drawing Edison and his side to their cause.

Though they find victory, it's bittersweet as it ends in Mash Kyrielight fainting once they return to Chaldea. More of Mash's background is revealed; she is more than just a staff member, but is a designer baby created through artificial insemination as part of Chaldea's experiments to fuse Servants with humans.

The sixth singularity is a bit weirder than the rest. Though the backdrop is Jerusalem at the end of the Crusades, Jerusalem itself has disappeared and this chunk of history is about to break off from the rest. Not only that, both Camelot and Ancient Egypt have materialized within the desert, and the knights of Camelot, led by the Lion King, seek to create a utopia at the edge of the world by selecting only the people they deem fit and eradicating the rest. It's another group effort as the team from Chaldea contact the assassins of old, the Old Men of the Mountain, and other Servants to help them wage war against Camelot. In particular, they journey with Bedivere, a Knight of the Round Table willing to fight against his comrades and his own king to help correct the singularity.

Not only do they discover deep secrets about Chaldea and a past Holy Grail War, the Servant within Mash awakens at last and the Servant's True Name is revealed. They defeat the Lion King, but at a great cost - Bedivere, who had withheld Excalibur all this time instead of casting it into the lake like he should have and who finally returned it to his king, finally dies, exhausted by his long journey to atone for his act of disobedience during King Arthur's final days, and which actually resulted in King Arthur, a.k.a. Arturia Pendragon, wielding the sacred lance Rhongomyniad and ascending to the status of a Divine Spirit.

In short, this was all Bedivere's fault but he wanted to fix it and he even got this nice shiny arm from Merlin to aid him in his cause.

Sanson does not figure in these plots but as part of Chaldea, it is presumed that he is in the know and accompanies Mash, the protagonist and Da Vinci.

Don't ask me to explain Fate/ plots again.

Updated Personality: There will be no notable updates in his personality since he did not have much of a role except to be brought along for the battles.

Updated Abilities: No updated abilities.

Other: Although they are more like side stories and reasons to grind, Sanson will also remember the "events" that transpired before and after America, and before Camelot, which include, off the top of my head, the Fate/Zero event (in which they Rayshift to the time and setting of the Fate/Zero series to correct the course of events), Rashomon (to beat up the evil oni Ibaraki-Douji and figure out the mystery behind a particularly intoxicating alcohol), Journey to the West (what it says on the tin except with Servants playing the major roles in the legend), and Onigashima (more of feudal Japan with the oni and stuff).

This is really more of keeping Sanson's knowledge up to date, as he doesn't have a major role in anything for a while.

Questions: Please let me know if I still......need to explain all of this

Character: (kid) Trunks
Current Canon Point: Dragon Ball Z: after the whole Gotenks and Piccolo get absorbed by Buu tomfoolery
Updated Canon Point: Dragon Ball GT: near the end of the series, helping his father fight against Omega Shenron

Updated Background:
The big thing to mention is that he's gone from 8 to 25.

Trunks is more or less out of commission for the remainder of the fight against Kid Buu as that falls on Goku and Vegeta's shoulders with a little help from Mr. Satan, a puppy, and Dende. After the defeat of Kid Buu and peace being restored to the Earth, the Z fighters and friends party down at Capsule Corp together in celebration and this is more or less the last time we see them until a time skip happens and it's been about 10 years since the defeat of Majin Buu, making Trunks 18 years old. The World Tournament is starting up soon and Trunks, deciding to visit Goten since they're best buds and all, gets roped into participating in the event thanks to his dad more or less MAKING HIM since Vegeta and Goku both think their sons have become soft during the years of peace that have followed the last big threat to Earth. Trunks is meh about this but goes along with it and gets to witness the defeat of best buddy Goten against 4 year old Pan, Goten's niece. Talk about embarrassing, buddy.

Goku decides to train Uub and wanders off into the sunset with him, which marks the end of Z and leads us into GT where 5* years have passed since the end of Z. *please note that the english dub says 10 years but the GT FILES say 5 years so i mean... i'll just go with that.

Trunks is now 23 and the young president of Capsule Corporation which, for the most part he does his best to take seriously, but he has a penchant for sneaking out the office window when he gets bored or just seriously does not want to deal with being at the office. Haven't we all been there?

Basically, Goku gets wished back down to being a kid by accident and with the black star dragonballs shooting themselves across the very universe and the threat of the world blowing up if they're not gathered in a year's time, GT starts off with this grand tour get it? GT?? of locating these seven dragonballs where Trunks is chosen by Vegeta to go off along with Goku and Goten for the year. Except that Pan sneakily ends up taking Goten's place, much to everyone's shock and surprise and thanks to Goten needing to take an oh-so-important phone call which led to Pan taking his place. Nice one, Goten.

Throughout the grand tour in space, Trunks spends about a year trying to find the dragonballs with Pan and Goku and, despite Goku technically being the oldest, Trunks is seen as the leader and adult among the three of them, also being the only one who can repair and pilot the ship that's been made for them by his mother, Bulma. Over the course of that year, they go from planet to planet and get themselves into quite a bit of trouble here and there and even manage to make a robot friend, Giru, after he eats the dragonball radar that Trunks accidentally drops. There are moments where Trunks comes to dress up as a bride, ends up on the run for being a "wanted criminal", has to fight giant dolls, and even ends up Han Solo'd in the sense of being turned into metal all in the process of trying to gather the black star dragonballs with the help of Giru since he now acts as a dragonball radar.

One of the bigger things that ends up happening is the encounter with Baby who does not like Saiyans and wants to eradicate them sounds like freeza, right? and when Trunks ends up discovering this "evil power" that wants to rule the universe, he tries to shut it down with some help from Giru but Baby ends up living and busting out and eventually comes to posses Trunks, fighting Goku while Pan screams at grandpa to not hurt Trunks. When it looks like things are about to go south for Goku with his holding back from hurting Trunks, Trunks is able to fight back and claim his body for himself but, sadly, Baby escapes and they're unable to locate him so, back to hunting the dragonballs they go since they're on a time limit and all.

When they gather the seven black star dragonballs and head back to Earth, it's been close to a year now and Trunks is 24... and Baby has made his way to Earth and has basically possessed everyone on the planet, including Trunks' father, Vegeta. Sadly, Baby had "laid an egg" inside Trunks when he had possessed him out in space and so Trunks ends up getting possessed/brainwashed and fights alongside the possessed Vegeta against Goku and Pan, but mostly Goku. At some point, Trunks is able to shake off the effects of his being possessed and comes to Goku and Pan's aid when things look grim and, thanks to Goku, Baby Vegeta is defeated and everything is back to normal and what have you if you count having to evacuate everyone to another planet since Earth is still gonna blow.

About a year after Baby's defeat, Trunks is now 25 and in comes the arrival of Super Android 17. But, first he appears as "regular android 17" and Trunks gets into a bit of a scuffle with him, 17 telling Trunks to give Goku a message to come to Hell to fight OR ELSE. You know, bad guys and all. Trunks takes part in this fight against all of DBZ's previous villains escaping Hell and causing havoc on the planet and even goes against Super Android 17 alongside his father, Gohan, Goten, and Uub. Goku, like always, defeats Super Android 17 and they decide to use the dragonballs to make things better since the planet is sort of collapsing and all thanks to the damage Super 17 caused. Instead of Shenlong appearing, seven Shadow Dragons are created due to the overuse of the dragonballs and Goku goes off to defeat these dragons since they mean trouble and are the evil or negative side of the dragonballs. Six of the seven Shadow Dragons are defeated but the last one, Syn Shenron, absorbs the other six dragonballs and becomes Omega Shenron, overwhelming Goku until Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta arrives to help. FUSHION IS THE WAY TO GO and Trunks stalls Omega Shenron from breaking Goku and Vegeta up so that they can fuse but, Goku and Vegeta being the two that they are, run out of time in fushion and people believe Goku to be dead in another round against Omega Shenron, leaving everyone feeling like the end is nigh.

Getting everyone off the planet is what Vegeta, now the one to "take care of everyone", sets into motion and asks Trunks to do so and take care of his mother and sister and for Gohan and Goten to remember their father as he goes off to face Omega Shenron alone. With the other Z fighters flying off, Trunks eventually comes to pull back and, saying goodbye to his mother, leaves to go fight with his father. Gohan and Goten eventually leave to join Trunks, all of them accepting that this will more than likely cost them their lives.

And this, where Trunks, Vegeta, Gohan, and Goten are trying to defeat Omega Shenron but getting beat up in the process, is where Trunks will be taken from. Phew, that was a lot for a recap.

Updated Personality:
Like mentioned above, he's no longer a kid anymore and is now a young adult and so he has just a little bit more chill and isn't bratty like he was back as a kid. As the young president of Capsule Corporation now (thanks, mom) Trunks knows how to handle situations that are a lot more sensitive and serious and has even had to play the adult while out on the space adventure with kid Goku and Pan for a year despite Goku technically being the oldest. Having to reel the other two in, be the one to lead them in situations, and even have to make the big or responsible decisions, Trunks knows how to be the adult in and out of the office. That being said, Trunks still holds a strong conviction for protecting others, including the universe, and won't hesitate to do what's necessary to see to it that those who wish to harm others are put in their place. He has an absolute love for tech and often gets excited about it and is rather handy with it all, quickly picking up on how to operate tech from other planets/galaxies when exposed to it which is a nod to his being a little brainy as his mother and that he knows his stuff when it comes to technology. But, even though he has more chill and is not a total brat anymore, he's still a dork and can get flustered or embarrassed easily, especially when it comes to teasing/picking on him but don't think he's not capable of doing some teasing of his own. When it comes to more important or dire matters, though, especially in battle, that bratty side of him is more or less gone and he now takes it more seriously and isn't one to play around as he typically had been as a kid. Unless it has to do with board meetings at Capsule Corporation because then he's liable to just sneak out the window and fly off because talk about boring.

Updated Abilities:
Literally the same as before just stronger now but I mean... also not ridiculous strong because, sadly, he got kinda lazy over the years. he even admits this a few times.

Other:
Ok, so. If you're not too familiar with the world of DBZ/DBGT/DBS, DBSuper and DBGT are sort of treated like alternate timelines like how future Trunks comes from an alternate one. GT references plenty of things that happened back in Z but nothing in Super (which is mostly Beerus and Whis plus Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue) because, well, Super wasn't around back in '96-'97 and honestly, trying to line up Super with the end of Z which leads into GT doesn't even seem possible anymore. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, kid Trunks would be disappearing the tail end of August/beginning of September and return from canon update within 5-6 days if that's ok.

Questions:
I need to switch journals for this if that's ok? I think I just need to comment to the change form on the taken list and rejoin the appropriate communities once he leaves for canon update.

Also wondering if it's ok/possible for him to arrive with a tin of capsules in his pocket? It would carry things like his office suit (lol), his jacket, some snacks, possibly his "hover car" but that's fine to not work within Emp.

Character: Alice L. Malvin
Current Canon Point: Volume 11, Chapter 45: "As a Living Being"
Updated Canon Point: Volume 19, Chapter 92: "No Glory Yet No Mockery"

Updated Background:
When we last left Alice in Chapter 45, she was returning home with a dislocated shoulder and something of a resolution with the conflict in District Zero. We're told Lieutenant Vitter took the fall for the incident in Karussell, acting as a superior officer rather than allowing the blame to shift to Alice herself. It also turns out that the amnesty granted Section Three was in part because Rondario, who had wanted to destroy District Zero and publicly called out Section Three, had donated a massive amount of money to the military using Section Three. The government is thus hesitant to sanction Section Three in any way, hoping more entrepreneurs will follow Rondario's lead and donate money as well.

There was also talk during the District Zero arc of the upcoming Nebulo Conference (or Congress as it's called at times), a convening of the different countries to discuss policy and relationships with one another as well as many other topics. This becomes the next major plot in canon. One of the major focuses of the Congress is what to do about the Kauplin's patents, a major point in these next few volumes that I'll take some time to summarize here.

Kauplin was a genius inventor who created more than a few patents for weaponry and other technology. In fact Kauplin created so many patents that scientists and inventors of the Empire and many other countries within the world Alice hails from are hitting a significant roadblock in any research and development they do. After pouring time and money into experimentation and invention of new weapons and devices, one person and group after another trips up on the same thing - a patent from Kauplin already existing for a thing they just created! Kauplin took advantage of a public indifferent to intellectual property at the time and patented an amazing amount of things that only existed in theory. Thanks to this, the Empire has had a foothold when it came to weapons and technology development in comparison to the rest of the world. The annulment of Kauplin's patents would leave inventors and scientists free to create new technologies but it would also mean stripping the Empire of it's one major advantage over everyone other country. And this is a distinct problem for the Empire.

We also dive more into the plot of the Silver Wheel, who have been lurking around in the background since Volume 6. It seems the aim of the Silver Wheel is to break apart the Empire bit by bit. There's talk of speeding up the process and many of the events in the next few volumes concerning a terrorist group called the Anti-Ares is the work of one of the "spokes" of the Silver Wheel itself, a masked woman names Vylos.

For the most part the Congress goes as scheduled in the beginning. There is talk of District Zero, how it is a sign that the Empire is too overburdened being the "Knights of the Nebulo" and so that they might rest, the annulment of Kauplin's patents is a necessity. The fourth day is when everything collapses. A terrorist group known as the Anti-Ares storm the Tower of Babel, taking most of the visiting dignitaries hostage. It seems most of the Anti-Ares are made up of individuals from nations that were crushed by the Empire during the war and bear a heavy resentment against the Empire for it. While their demand is for the Empire to give up Pelion, a nation conquered by the Empire, it isn't this surrender that seems to be the ultimate goal of the Anti-Ares.

Alice ends up participating with the Nebulo Congress as head of the War Damage Symposium during most of the congress. Very few people come to the Symposium. Thanks to the relative unimportance of the war relief symposium compared to the rest of the Congress, the Anti-Ares terrorist group largely forgets about Alice and those attending her symposium. She isn't rounded up with the rest of the nobles on the fourth day when the terrorist group begins it's holy war. Ehen the terrorist announce that they are going to free some of their hostages to show that the Empire is their only enemy, she is given the opportunity to be the first one to attempt to leave when the terrorists offer to let anyone who wishes to walk out to do just that, provided they are not within the Tower of Babel itself but in the buildings surrounding the Tower. This act invites censure and eventually rock-throwing in Alice's direction from the crowds gathered near the Tower, saying she's being a coward for taking the chance to escape first considering she is both Imperial military and a noble as well. Alice however sees it as setting a precedent, showing the other nobles that she isn't gunned down by the terrorist and thus they aren't lying about them being free to leave. Without someone taking that risk first, Alice reasons, no one would dare try to escape for fear of looking dishonorable and in the end those people would be seen as "willingly" staying and thus most wouldn't care if they were sacrificed or not in the end.

After her escape Alice leaves and returns much later to combat one of the tanks the Anti-Ares have brought into the fight, decked out in set of armor called the White Rose that bears special modifications to aid in in repelling gunfire. She also brings her horse Ace into the fight.

More about Alice's personal background is also revealed in these volumes. We meet Lieutenant Marwin of Section One, the Information Department, and Haarkenmeijer, someone from the Foreign Vistors' Bureau as well as officer third class of the Sacred Swords of the Azure Bloom. Marwin is from a branch of the Malvin family. We also learn that the "L." in Alice's full name (Alice L. Malvin) is a type of distinction within noble families. It seems there can only be one person within a noble family line that bears the letter for that family. Branch families compete for the letter and those of Marwin family were determined to take the L away from Alice and instate their own families as lead. Everyone seemed to think it would be an easy task, considering Alice was a young girl who until a few years prior was bedridden from illness, but Alice proved otherwise in a duel with Lieutenant Marwin himself.

Thanks to this, Marwin and Haarkenmeijer both view Alice as a sort of flawless hero to idolize. Haarkenmeijer reasons that they couldn't allow themselves to see Alice as any less (or even human perhaps) because it meant they lost to her. You can't lose to something that is unbeatable and so in keeping Alice on a pedestal, they were really protecting their own egos. Lieutenant Marwin won't accept this idea and both eventually contributes to Haarkenmeijer's death as well as targeting Randel for beginning to introduce taint into Alice's perfect, unblemished heart. Her questioning her ideals of neutrality, of compressing her own feelings and sacrificing her desires to be a neutral hero archetype is apparently not allowed in Lieutenant Marwin's eyes.

We also learn begin learning more about how Alice views justice and heroism. She begins by denying the idea that she could be a hero or even pretend to be one until she eventually agrees to try to play the part of a hero for Haarkenmeijer but more importantly for the Anti-Ares as well. She reasons this is a war relief effort because the Anti-Ares were part of the damages of war. Taken over by the Empire, the Empire then attempted to wipe out much of their culture. They were beaten down and considered lower than most Empire citizens. Thanks to this Alice wants to give them a hero they can feel good about being defeated by, who they can feel was a worthy fight and respected them in the fight rather than just merely beating them down. She wanted to give them a hero that considered them as equals.

Updated Personality:
Very little has changed with regard to Alice's personality beyond a few points.

The Tower of Babel arc of the manga focuses quite a bit on Alice's disillusionment with the idea of being a hero as well as a "defender of justice". She vehemently denies that she is a hero or has the capacity to be one to Haarkenmeijer because she recognizes she can't be a complete defender of the people (or "justice" as she sees civilians). What people demand from a hero is an image and Alice can't give them that image they crave because she was rejected by that embodiment of "justice" in the first place.

We hearken back to a moment first mentioned in Chapter 12 and then later at the beginning of the District Zero arc - Alice's first assignment as leader of State Section III. It was a disastrous mission to bring aid and supplies to District Zero that lead to Alice questioning many of her notions of justice as well as heroism. As a child she heard heroes being called "defenders of justice" and decided that meant they couldn't be justice themselves. Justice must be many things then and because heroes defended it, Alice decided as a child that justice must mean the people, the civilians that her family as nobles must naturally serve. In District Zero this idea was shattered with "justice", the people she was sent to help with supplies and aid, turned on her and her squad. They threw rocks, they yelled at her and all of the idealism she had exited school with dissipated. She realized she couldn't act for love of the people or a wish to protect "justice" anymore than she could act in anger for them or against them. She had to be impartial.

In this arc she rebuilds that vision of what a hero means and what defending justice means to her as well.

We're also beginning to see Alice allowing herself to have more emotions and just what that does to her. During the tank fight, she gets lost in her anger over what this terrorist group is doing to the city. She becomes so focused on that rage and anger that she forgets why she had come to confront them in the first place (beyond simply stopping the tank) and focuses only on defeating them. It's seeing Haarkenmeijer's sword breaker caught on the tank that she snaps out of this mood suddenly. She later regrets having allowed herself to lapse into that feeling so thoroughly.

Updated Abilities: Nothing has changed here.

Other: Alice will be returning wearing the battered remains of her White Rose armor and a long blond wig. She will also have new dagger called a swordbreaker as well as a saddle bag for Ace containing another copy of her State Section Three uniform.

Questions: I tried to condense a lot of things down and left out some things that had no bearing yet on Alice's background. Let me know if I need to include anything else or if anything else needs clarified as well.

Character: Riku
Current Canon Point: 358/2 Days: right before he defeats Roxas
Updated Canon Point: Dream Drop Distance: right before heading off to get Kairi

Updated Background:
I'm going to try and summarize this the best I can because this is over the course of two games. /o\

Riku gives into his darkness, transforms into an ugly old man named Ansem and defeats Roxas so that he can bring him back to DiZ and they can restore Sora's memories with the help of Namine. Riku keeps an eye on Roxas while he's in Twilight Town to make sure no funny business goes down while Namine works on those memories of Sora's and learns that the whole thing with Sora is just for revenge which pisses Riku off to say the least. That's what you get for trusting a guy named DiZ I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ When Roxas goes off to Sora, DiZ tells Riku to get rid of Namine aka kill her and Riku is not having any of that and instead has her go with Axel to ensure her safety. King Mickey finds Riku and is all OH BOY, RIKU! and Riku basically tells Mickey listen, you're my friend, don't sell me out to Sora because I look like a mess and Mickey is all uhhh oooook because they're pals. This is when Riku decides to troll Sora in the form of leaving him clues here and there which drives Sora batty because he knows it's Riku but can't quite catch up to him. Axel gets a little desperate at some point, kidnaps Kairi, Riku is all not today and rescues her as old man Ansem. Riku eventually accidentally comes across Sora, though Sora doesn't know it's him but is all WAIT A SECOND HERE when he sees the cloaked man (Riku) wielding Soul Eater, Riku's Keyblade. He pretty much figures it's Riku and is kind of mad that he's avoiding him but also glad to know he's ok.

Kairi gets kidnapped, Riku is all didn't I say not today??, heads off to save both her and Namine and Kairi lets him know she knows his secret but Riku is like ok and just leaves... except he ends up coming back to save her from Heartless and gives her her own Keyblade so that she can fight as well. After Sora defeats Xigbar, Riku is like welp I guess I'll split then but Kairi pulls him back on over and Sora, after feeling out with his feelings, realizes old man Ansem is actually Riku, starts shaking and crying, and the Destiny Trio is once again together. But Riku is like no time for tears, Sora, got stuff to do and off they go to defeat the rest of the Organization. When they reach the top of the castle, Mickey and DiZ are there and then a big revelation happens: DiZ is Ansem the Wise. Some confrontation happens, the machine Ansem the Wise is using EXPLODES and Riku somehow magically goes back to his old self, tossing off the blindfold and cloak and is like LET'S DO THIS, SORA. So off they go to confront Xemnas and a battle happens, Riku saves Sora's behind and gets hit pretty badly because of it but he and Sora and their power of friendship defeat Xemnas in the end because good guys always win. Sora ends up dragging a badly injured and totally tired out Riku with him for a long time until they reach the Dark Meridian and they sit on the beach, have some words with each other, Riku apologizing and letting some feels out, then find a message in a bottle and Sora opens a Door of Light for them to walk through where they are sent back home to Destiny Islands, reuniting with their friends. /end Kingdom Hearts II

Enter Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
Our adventure here begins with Riku and Sora heading off to see Yen Sid in regards to taking the Mark of Mastery exam which is basically like THE EXAM to take if you want to be a Keyblade Master and is important because that annoying guy Xehanort is probably going to come back at some point. Riku is like YEAH I'LL DO THIS to prove to himself that he's worthy of wielding a Keyblade after everything that he's done with the darkness and all and so he and Sora are sent to the Sleeping Worlds where they need to wake me up inside up some worlds there that are, well, asleep essentially thanks to Ansem. Everything seems fine and dandy at first but then, typical, they get separated from each other but Riku finds some pretty cool stuff on his lonesome so I guess that's ok for now?? Riku meets up with a guy named Joshua, learns some stuff from him, then continues on his way meeting new people, fighting new baddies, you know, typical adventure stuff. Ansem pops out of nowhere and essentially heckles Riku on his journey, trying to get him to give into the darkness but Riku is like I'm not about that life anymore, I walk the dawn, old man, and rejects him. But bad stuff happens anyways and Riku learns that Sora's fallen into a deep sleep in The World That Never Was and hurries his way to save him.

Sora's heart has been damaged and has left him in a coma and Riku, frazzled by this, tries to wake Sora up but that just triggers the darkness in Sora's heart which activates a nightmare dream eater and fights Riku, losing to him. This is where Ansem is like SURPRISE and Riku is like god not you again and it's revealed that Riku is A DREAM EATER purifying Sora's dreams of Nightmares. Ansem tries to do the whole possession thing with Riku again because the guy clearly can't take a hint but Riku has a trick up his sleeve thanks to Terra way back when which is to make his inner darkness his own power and thus, Ansem is defeated because no one has time for this tomfoolery when Sora needs help. Riku ends up coming across a young Xehanort and it looks bad but Mickey comes to the rescue only for it to be bad again and Riku has to fight Xehanort. Riku eventually wins but bad guys always have more than one battle in them and also like to talk a lot, the young Xehanort pretty much telling Riku and Mickey his plans for the X-Blade with Ventus and Vanitas. It's during this "bad guy speech" that it's revealed that Riku was originally intended to be a vessel for him but gosh darn, Riku managed to become immune to the darkness with being exposed to it so much and claiming it as his own. So, you know, young Xehanort is peeved and decides to use Sora instead. Riku is like not today but just when things look bad, Lea comes to the rescue along with Donald and Goofy.

Riku brings the sleeping Sora back with him and dives into his body to try and fix his fractured heart but, of course this wouldn't be simple and Riku ends up having to fight Sora clad in Ventus' Keyblade armor which has been corrupted by nightmares and darkness. Riku defeats this, jumps into a memory where he meets Roxas, Xion, and Ventus before he can proceed and Ansem reappears again and at this point you're just like oh my god just go away but he actually lets Riku know about Sora's ability to connect with other's hearts and how that might be used to bring others back who have been lost. He lets Riku know that with defeating that nightmare and having those chats with Roxas, Xion, and Ventus, he woke Sora and Riku is like welp, I'm out, see ya and goes back to the real world. It's there that he reunites with Sora and Yen Sid proclaims Riku a Keyblade Master.

Updated Personality:
Honestly, the biggest thing you need to know is that he's no longer the My Chemical Romance and Linkin Park era Riku from 358/2 Days. That is to say, he's a helluva lot less difficult and while he still has a mood every now and then (who doesn't?), it's nowhere near as often or bad as they previously were. Riku has matured amazingly enough and has come to fully accept himself and his darkness to the point where he's become more or less immune to the darkness and the corrupting effects it can have on a person and their heart... which really ticks the bad guys off. He also no longer shoulders heavy doubt or guilt for the wrongdoings he's done in the past and has finally come to forgive himself for his behavior which has only made him stronger. He's actually a bit humble as well, totally letting Sora have the spotlight, but still has that playfully arrogant side to him that sometimes comes out, oops. But his attitude and the way he perceives himself has drastically changed to the point where he's now confident (and a Keyblade Master!!) in himself, his abilities, his darkness, and his friends. No longer a puppet to be pulled this way and that by the darkness and no more moping around while skulking around in the shadows with a blindfold, thank goodness.

Updated Abilities:
Riku will be bringing in two additional Keyblades (if that's ok??) which are:

Combined Keyblade but only bringing in his half of it as the other half belongs to Sora. please note that Sora does not have his half of this Keyblade currently and will need to reacquire it or regain it w/e.

Ocean's Rage which is exclusive to Riku.

He's also learned a few new techniques which are more dark-related magic type things:

Dark Splicer: inflicts Stop on enemies at the beginning of the attack and deals Dark damage, allowing him to teleport around the enemy multiple times while slashing at them.

Dark Break: allows him to leap into the air and strike enemies from above three times before creating a shockwave upon landing.

Dark Barrier: allows him to block attacks from any direction.

Sacrifice: allows him to execute a powerful attack at the expense of HP.

Zantetsuken: allows him to execute a single, impossibly fast Keyblade strike, usually dealing a devastating amount of damage.

Doubleflight: allows him to leap higher by means of a second jump.

I'm not bringing him in with abilities such as Meteor or Meteor Crash because of how intense those ones are.

Other:
He cut his hair and I'm mad? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, Riku will probably be leaving some time this month.

Questions:
This is more for a future reference sort of thing MAYBE but are Dream Eaters allowed to be regains? Specifically Komory Bat which is like Riku's buddy in 3D. Or... is he able to come back from canon update with Komory Bat? Thank you and sorry that background is so long. /o\

Character: Asuna Yuuki
Current Canon Point: Shortly before the events of Mother's Rosario.
Updated Canon Point: Midway through Mother's Rosario, specifically the day after the Sleeping Knights have defeated the 27th Floor boss and Yuuki has signed off.

Updated Background: On the day of her duel with Zekken, Asuna was surprised to learn the duelist was a young woman named Yuuki. Despite her best efforts, Asuna lost the duel but was surprised when Yuuki flew off with her and asked for her help. She was introduced to the guild known as the Sleeping Knights, a guild with the goal of defeating a floor boss by themselves so that their names would appear on the Monument of Heroes together. After this meeting, Asuna was confronted by her mother, who said if she was ever late again, her access to the AmuSphere and Alfheim Online would be taken away.

With this threat looming, Asuna joined with the Sleeping Knights and, after one failed attempt, managed to defeat the boss of the 27th Floor. Following their celebration, Asuna asks if she can join the Sleeping Knights, but is told by the other members it's impossible. Visiting the monument, Yuuki says "We did it, sis." Asuna comments on this, assuming it was a term of affection given to her, but Yuuki begins to cry and logs out. As Asuna returns, she's been unable to contact her.

Updated Personality: Between the threat of losing the world she cares about and her heartache over Yuuki's disappearance, Asuna's confidence will be shaken even more than before, especially in light of what she perceives as her failure during the attack on Sosyne. While this will make her more determined than ever to help those in need, she's also going to put less focus on her own well being, devoting herself to others even at her own expense.

Updated Abilities: None.

Character: Paddra Nsu-Yeul
Current Canon Point: Just after she dies in XIII-2
Updated Canon Point: Leaving for the New World in Lightning Returns

Updated Background: A lot happens that Yeul has no direct part in, and yet she's to blame for it all more or less. Noel and Serah proceed to continue their attempt to stop Cocoon from falling, thereby changing the future. They fight Caius in an attempt to stop him from putting an end to time, and yet his Heart of Chaos is destroyed, killing him... and releasing all the Chaos out of the unseen realm into the physical world, destroying the large majority of it.

Skip forward 500 years to the next game. In those years, the Chaos continued to spread, destroying what was left of the world. In fact, the world will be completely obliterated in a matter of days. There were no new births, and time was essentially frozen in that nobody aged.

Yeul spent those 500 years in the Temple of the Goddess, which was brought into the physical world from Valhalla when the Chaos escaped. She knew what Lightning had to do and spread the word through the chaos to the people living in the Wildlands and the Angel of Valhalla. This way when Light did arrive, the legend about herself would help guide her to the white chocobo and eventually the temple.

More than that though, all the Yeuls are the source of the Chaos. It is the darkness born in the heart, splintered off and coalescing into an uncontrollable force every time Yeul died and was reborn. Described as a "cancer", the Yeuls' love for Caius, half wishing to grant him peace and the other half desiring to keep him with them created a contradiction that could not be contained. It is the dark force that broke out and dragged Lightning out of the physical world, turning her into Etro's Champion, and it is the writhing Chaos destroying what's left of Gran Pulse, aka Nova Crysalia.

Lightning did attempt to comply with Yeul's wish to save Caius and free him, but he refused, insisting that he needed to stay and care for Yeul. Finding it to be hopeless, she moved on leaving Caius with all his many young charges.

At the end of the game, when all the souls of humanity were departing for the New World, Caius and the collective of Yeuls said that they would stay behind and serve as the guidance the dead require. After a minor skerfluffle with Noel about Yeul remaining in the shadows of death, Caius releases the final one (the Yeul in Emp) from that existence. In doing, he commits her care to Noel.

Updated Personality: Yeul remains largely the same despite the large timespan. Although, having spent 500 years in isolation with her previous incarnations and Caius will have diminished her innocence remarkably. She remains hopeful and more cheerful than many of her counterparts, but that is tempered by a painful realization that she is the reason Lightning was ripped out of time and that their world was eventually destroyed. She will be actively be seeking ways to atone for this atrocity. A little more subdued and slower to smile than before.

Updated Abilities: Nada. As she's separated from the remainder of the collective of Yeuls, she does not get to keep any of their abilities.

Character: Tatsumi
Current Canon Point: After being rescued from public execution
Updated Canon Point: Post series

Updated Background:

After slightly helping Akame with a fateful encounter with her sister, it's finally time for the assassin group Night Raid to attack the capital. The dragon inside of Tatsumi is gaining control and his body is slowly transforming.

Finally, the attack happens. While his friends all focus on different targets, Tatsumi gets the Emperor himself. Wielder of the ultimate Teigu, the Emperor attacks mercilessly, which causes Tatsumi's Teigu to evolve in battle. Though he wins, the result is a full transformation into the danger beast. With little of himself remaining, he makes it to Akame and asks she finish him off before the dragon takes full control. Instead, she can sense his own heart beating separately from that of the beast and chooses to kill the dragon instead. Tatsumi is still in the form of a dragon, but he now has sole control.

Returning home, Mine (his girlfriend) finally wakes up and finds out she's pregnant. Still in the dragon form, the two of them return to Tatsumi's hometown where they raise a family. I'll be pulling him from a couple of weeks after the pregnancy reveal.

I'll be humanizing him to current look.

Updated Personality: He's happier now, but it won't really be a noticeable difference. He loses friends during the final confrontation, but Mine wakes up, and he finds out he's going to be a dad.

Updated Abilities: Downgrading them, actually. With the danger beast dead, Tatsumi can no longer transform.

Other: As mentioned, he's a dragon in canon at this point, but I'd prefer he return as a human.

Character: Connor
Current Canon Point: Post "Public Enemy"
Updated Canon Point: Mid "Meet Kamski," right before making the decision to shoot or not.

Updated Background: Nineteen hours have passed. Markus, leader of the deviants, has headed a break in to several CyberLife stores, freeing hundreds of androids and spreading a message of freedom and peace through hacked screens and messages left on the buildings nearby.

With the situation escalating towards a potential revolution, Hank has reached out to his contacts to get in touch with the founder of CyberLife, Kamski, who left the company years before, in the hopes of finding some new insights. Connor accompanies him, and after a phone call outside of Kamski's home, they discover that a fellow policeman was attacked by deviants during the break-in of the night before, only to be saved by Markus himself.

When they head inside, Connor discovers from a photo on the wall that his CyberLife handler, Amanda, was based off Kamski's deceased mentor, indicating his deep connections to the code the company uses even now. After a short wait, the two finally speak to the reclusive creator of androids, only for him to speak cryptically, demand Connor's personal opinions (which he's not supposed to have), and drive the detective prototype to the defensive.

Kamski then moves one of his Chloe androids to her knees, hands Connor a gun, and presents him with two options: he can either shoot her and get information for his investigation, or spare the android and leave without learning anything new. This is what he refers to as the "Kamski test," to see whether machines are capable of empathy.

Connor struggles between what he knows CyberLife would want him to do... and what's the right thing to do.

Updated Personality: Nothing much has changed, but Connor has been faced with yet another decision that drives him towards emotional responses rather than the logical outcome his programming and the company that built him intended for him. That, and finding out your creator is a gigantic douchebag gives you a lot to think about.

Updated Abilities: Nothing new. Same ol robocop.

Other: He'll be coming in with the gun that Kasmki handed him. He'll be gone on the 16th and coming back the 19th.

Player: Yukina
Character: Alisaie Leveilleur
Current Canon Point: Post 4.0
Updated Canon Point: Post 4.4

Updated Background: After suffering injuries at the end of 4.0 Alisaie is forced into recovery until the events of 4.2. Alphinaud and the Warrior of Light are summoned to Kugane by Yugiri. Alisaie tags along, much to her brother's dismay, and the three learn from Yugiri that Yotsuyu and Gosetsu have been spotted alive. The Empire is in hot pursuit of Yotsuyu which is cause for concern. Upon finding them they learn she has lost her memory and Gosetsu has been taking care of her. While none are to pleased by this Hien agrees that she should remain and be treated as a proper Doma citizen. An ambassador from the Empire, Asahi, arrives shortly after and claims he comes to negotiate peace between the Empire and Doma. He happens to be Yotsuyu's brother as well. He strikes a bargain with Hien: they will release their Doman prisoners in exchange for their Garlean ones. He demands that this include Yotsuyu. Hien agrees only if Yotsuyu regains her memories. Otherwise she is to remain.

After showing the Warrior of Light his malicious intentions, Asahi proceeds to manipulate events to force Yotsuyu's memories to return. At the time of the prisoner exchange she appears, full of her usual spite, and transforms into the primal Tsukuyomi. Asahi boasts that the exchange is a failure and that a Doman has summoned a primal, declaring attempts at a peace treaty lost. After being defeated she kills Asahi and then dies herself. One of Asahi's companions, Maxima, steps forward and it is revealed that Asahi was sent on orders from Zenos. Alphinaud suspects a Ascian at play here and volunteers to accompany Maxima, now revealed to be a true member of a peace seeking political faction within the Empire, to the Garlean homeland. Alisaie is quite distressed by this decision but knowing he will not change his mind she tells him to be careful and watches him depart.

The Doman prisoners are released regardless and give their thanks. Alisaie and the Warrior of Light thus return from Doma and reunite with Lyse and Thancred. They explain what has happened and the group goes to check on Zenos's grave. Sure enough his body is not present and an Ascian taking his form back in Garlemald is all but certain now. Thancred decides to explore the boarder for more information on this and Y'shtola leaves to travel to Doma to learn more of the primal Yotsuyu summoned. Alisaie, completely wrecked with worry for her brother, is forced to stay at the Rising Stones and wait for word from him. Unfortunately word never arrives.

Thancred eventually contacts them and says that he is on his way back with some news to report. Alisaie and the Warrior of Light travel to meet him in Little Ala Mhigo where he confirms that Zenos is indeed alive. He also reports that he got a brief distress message from Alphinaud but was only able to make out two words: the Burn. A desert wasteland located between Doma and Garlemald, he suspects Alphinaud may be found there. Alisaie jumps on this immediately and declares they will travel there right away in search. They meet with Y'shtola, Hien and Yugiri in Doma as it is the entry point to the Burn. Although not pleased to travel to it Hien feels responsible for Alphinaud, having made him a diplomat of Doma to protect him on his journey into the Empire.

The five travel to the Burn on falcon back and arrive at the scene of a crashed ship, the one that bore Alphinaud away, and many deceased Garlean soldiers. They note that the soldiers were from the royal guard and that only a member of the royal family could have commanded them which further confirms Ascian Zenos's involvement. They also confirm that Alphinaud has long since left the area and have no clues on where he might have gone... or if he is even all right. Alisaie is quiet on their return home and is clearly sick with worry by what they have discovered. Despite gentle encouragement from Hien her concern weighs heavily on her.

Upon returning to Doma they find Lyse waiting for them. She invites Hien to a meeting with the Eorzean Alliance. Ala Mhigo has agreed to join it and they are hoping Doma will too. After a brief interlude in order to make sure Doma is defended in Hien's absence he departs for Little Ala Mhigo. The Scions also attend and together the meeting to discuss what to do about the Empire begins. Thancred proposes a plan to spread rumors in Garlemald that the Zenos who has returned is not as he seems. In doing so he hopes unrest might spread and throw the Empire into a civil war. In this moment pain rips through the Scions's minds and all at once they hear a voice that calls out to them. Only Y'shtola, Thancred, Alisaie and the Warrior of Light suffer this and when it ends Thancred drops to the floor, unconscious.

Kan-E-Senna tells the remaining Scions that his soul has been taken and what they experienced was a phenomenon known as The Calling. Concerned, Y'shtola, Alisaie and the Warrior of Light travel back to the Rising Stones. They discover that Urianger heard it too. Urianger and Y'shtola agree to look further into the matter only for the Calling to happen a second time. Urianger and Y'shtola's souls are lost and they too fall unconscious, oblivious to the desperate pleas of Alisaie.

Shaken but not broken Alisaie takes the Warrior of Light to visit an old friend and there voices her fears that she has no one left. She reaffirms that she doesn't have to carry the burden alone because she has them and finds a new resolve to do whatever it takes to save her fellow Scions.

Updated Personality: Alisaie's personality has not changed too drastically but we do get a bit more elaboration on some key points and a reveal of a new trait. Y'shtola observes that she is dealing poorly with Alphinaud going missing in enemy territory. She acts more subdued and quiet when the search turns up no signs of him. Lyse notes that Alisaie acts headstrong and reckless to make up for feeling weak. She encourages the Warrior of Light to be there for her, also mentioning that she is not handling the weight of worry very well. She takes it upon herself to try and fill Alphinaud's role, however, which speaks to the seriousness she treats his absence. It is a role she shied away from in the past but decides upon meeting with the Eorzean Alliance that she will do what she can to carry on his work. This is a level of responsibility she has never taken on before.

When the other Scions are lost to the Calling Alisaie shows a remarkable strength of determination and a sudden spark of leadership. She steps up to the plate as the last remaining senior Scion and takes the reins. Although she expresses her fears and doubts openly she is quick to pick herself up and declare that she has friends to save. Later she is seen in the Rising Stones mentioning that she will reach out to the outside connections and find whoever she can that can help them. Notable too, however, was her reaction to losing Urianger and Y'shtola in front of her as she is seen in great distress when they fall and then apologizes for losing her cool. This combined with her missing brother places a lot of stress on her and shows that for all her strength she deals poorly with being left alone.

Player: Vilya
Character: Y'shtola
Current Canon Point: Near the end of patch 2.55
Updated Canon Point: Mid-patch 4.4; right after activating the giant control shard at the House of the Crooked Coin

Updated Background:

Heavensward on is new, and the tidbit about battle in Stormblood covers part of what happens after Y'shtola recovers from her injuries enough to continue: she and Thancred help subdue a sneak attack on a diplomatic conference in Ala Mhigo, and then she decides to join you in Doma, investigating the primal summonings there as well as getting the lay of the land as far as what the future may have in store for the Scions and the Eorzean Alliance. She joins the player character and other friends on a trip to the Azim Steppe, up to more investigation of the aether and what might be done to keep back the Empire from retaliating against all these rebellions. In the process she and the Doman head of state (for lack of better fast explanation), Hien, face off in battle against Magnai, who fancies himself the finest warrior on the Steppe.

Y'shtola wins.

After that the party looks into a specific and curious cavern and the large...crystal? Crystalline structure encased there; Y'shtola's aetheric activation of it should allow the surrounding land to reclaim some of its energy, rather than having it siphoned off or otherwise fading. And that is whence she returns to Empatheias!

Updated Personality:

Y'shtola is largely the same as she always was! She tends to say what's on her mind a bit more and with a little less enigmatic speech, and she's much faster about calling you out, but she is equally warmer and less distant. Her time in the aether and all the subsequent threats to herself and her friends has led her to a new appreciation of how precious the gift of time is.

As a consequence she's now more of a blend of Cool Aunt and Team Mom. Freer with knowledge and with stern fussing.

Updated Abilities:

All her same conjurer skills, plus an apparent heightened command of them and of healing magic; she still has the large defensive bubble but can now also use a smaller, localized one (in the palm of her hand, for example) to deflect a single strike rather than for sustained protection. Also, she has...I can only describe it as a mystic arte? A personal limit break (4.4 gif content)? It's called Spiritual Ray. A very powerful light/aether based attack that will bring you low.

Also she can see changes in the aether much more clearly and abundantly and I would like her to also apply this, with practice and time, to emotions and dunamis! Seeing changes in them even if they don't manifest, or concentrations of one or another strong emotion, and maybe using that as well to...er, interpret the world.

She apparently always could do the teleport trick but continues to choose not to exercise that in Empatheias, as there is no conceivable way for her to even guess that someone might survive it.

Other:

SHE GETS THE MOST EPIC STAFF EVER I am so excited for this stick. No more little leafy wand.

Also of note! At one point in 4.4 the cutscene suggests we actually take Y'shtola's perspective as she looks out over a very empty desert. (She's the only character doing this and the camera moves to match her actions just prior, but from first person POV.) It looks surprisingly normal; the presumption I'm going with is that, well, that is indeed how the world looks - pretty damn normal. Just via aether instead of, you know...light and rods and cones and such. (There may be more to it but the area where this happened lacks most aether so if there was any to notice it was minimal at best.)

Questions:

I suppose the "seeing emotions" thing is a question! Could she interpret the world through dunamis the same way she now does through aether?

Character: Ignis Scientia
Current Canon Point: Post-Chapter 10.
Updated Canon Point: Post-game, after the ten-year timeskip and finale.

Updated Background: Since his previous canon point, Ignis will have continued on with his companions on their journey to the heart of the empire, despite his now being blinded and struggling to keep up in combat. Determined to press onward and stay by Noct's side as long as he can, he and the rest of the royal retinue head to Niflheim, only to lose Prompto along the way. Upon reaching the imperial capital itself and making their way to Zegnautus Keep, the group is split even further, and Ignis and Gladio find themselves left behind as Noctis runs ahead to confront Ardyn and attempt to rescue Prompto.

Once Ignis and Gladio have dispatched of the daemons in their way, they, too, head into the keep in search of their friends, and investigate what they can of the empire's inner workings in the process, finding most of the keep to be populated entirely by daemons and rogue magitek units rather than people. They eventually rejoin Noctis partway through the keep, and together the three of them manage to find and release Prompto. Everything comes to a head when they finally reach the Crystal that they had come in search of, having previously been stolen from the Citadel in their home of Insomnia, but the moment is not as triumphant as they had hoped. Upon reaching the Crystal, Bahamut reaches out and speaks to Noctis, and makes it known that he is to sacrifice himself for the survival of their planet— and in order to be victorious, he must slumber within the crystal until the Ring of the Lucii is full of the necessary power to vanquish their foes. Noctis has no choice but to enter the crystal and leave his friends behind, and Ignis is left with the others, stunned by the sudden loss and uncertain of what it means for them or for the larger picture.

Ten years pass, largely off-screen. We see a brief glimpse of how Ignis spends this time in the multiplayer DLC, Comrades: he dedicates his time to rigorous training, preparing himself for the return of his King, whenever that may be. Largely, what we know about the events of this timeskip is offered in summary by Talcott when Noctis does return: Ignis, like many others, has made his home base in Lestallum, as it's one of the few safe places left with the world being under the cover of darkness and overrun by daemons. Despite his friends’ insistence that he give up fighting and live as a civilian, Ignis ignores their wishes and continues to go out and fight daemons despite his blindness, refusing to let his circumstances change who he is. We learn that he regains his skills in the kitchen and may, in fact, be a better cook than ever before. Unfortunately, it also comes to light that he, Gladio and Prompto largely go their own way for the bulk of that time. Though they see each other on occasion, it’s entirely possible that Noctis’ absence makes being together too difficult for the three of them.

After ten years, Noctis returns, and Ignis is prepared to pick up exactly where he left off. He and the others come back together to escort Noctis to the ruins of Insomnia for his final showdown with Ardyn. The four of them fight their way through the horde of daemons in the city and make their way to the citadel, including a hard-won battle against the astral Ifrit, but are forced to part ways with Noctis when they reach the throne room. Noctis insists on going to face Ardyn alone, and Ignis remains with Gladio and Prompto to ward off the attacking daemons while their King does what must be done. Once Ardyn has been defeated, Noctis gives up his own life to use the power of the Ring and the Crystal combined to banish the darkness. Though we do not see Ignis again from this point, we are told that he and the others survive the daemon onslaught and are present to see— or in Ignis’ case, sense— the return of the dawn as the world of Eos is freed from its curse of eternal night.

Updated Personality: He’s still the same person he always was: loyal, determined, responsible, compassionate. The main thing this canon update will offer him is closure, since he’ll be coming from after Noctis’ death instead of constantly dreading having to go back and witness it. In addition, it will help him to further develop and maintain his independence, as he’s now gone ten whole years without being at Noct’s side.

Updated Abilities: No new abilities, but over the last ten years, Ignis has regained his combat prowess and become even more skilled when it comes to fighting— both blind and in general, since he now has a decade of fighting daemons without his sight under his belt. He no longer uses a cane and can navigate the world just as well as he did before going blind, indicating that he's very much in tune with his senses.

Other: He has aged well, man.
